The Springfield News-Leader reports that Pete Newman was tossed in jail for showing up late to his bond hearing today.

Thanks to former reporter/editor Randy Turner and his blog The Turner Report, I've been following the case of Pete Newman, the former Kanakuk Kamp director accused of sexually abusing teenage boys.
Actually, Kanakuk is a Christian sports camp.
As we mentioned earlier, Turner noted Newman's scheduled court appearance for this morning.
An arrest warrant was issued for Newman today during his bond hearing.
The Turner Report says Newman no-showed the hearing and his bond was increased to $100,000. It's all on Casenet (just enter Newman's name or the case number, 09AF-CR02097).

Homer....that is horrible to say. Edgey, gritty but horrible. Ever heard of intimidation or humiliation?
"accused of molesting male campers over a nine year period."
It supposedly happened over a 9 year period but nobody ever said anything about it? That makes it sound like it either didn't happen or the boys liked it and didn't mind.
Funny how everyone has an excuse. Typical. You would think for something that important you wouldn't be late. I deal with people all day who find a way to blame anyone and everyone for the problems in their lives. If it wasn't so sad it would make me laugh. Those weren't lies. The record shows he didn't make his appearance......late, missed, no show.....what difference does it make?
He did show to his hearing, however, he was fourteen minutes late because his attorney was late. Know the facts first before you post lies or are too quick to judge.
@ jocoeveryman, when I heard the stories (and I don't remember reading much, if anything about it in the Star), I started wondering about that.
"Kanakuk is a Christian sports camp."
Ya learn something new every day. I thought that this kind of thing only happened at Boy Scout camps. They told me that was how I earned my Orienteering merit badge.
