In the latest edition of her e-newsletter, O'Fallon loon (and Missouri state Rep.) Cynthia Davis shows off her concealed-carry permit -- this woman can legally carry a gun? -- and argues in favor of churchgoers packing heat in houses of the holy.
Damn those draconian Missouri laws outlawing guns in churches. She writes:
One concern I have with the current law is that guns areYou don't say.prohibited in churches. This means there is no defense for the members
if a criminal act is attempted or perpetrated.
whether they can have parishioners carrying guns. The churches should
decide, Davis argues, Hey, isn't that what Jesus would have wanted? Of course it is!
Most of us were taught as children that the church is God'shouse. Just think how differently things may have turned out if it were
not for a heroic woman with a gun at the New Life Church in Colorado.
Yeah, just think about what might have happened.
Cynthia, we don't have to imagine. I'm sure you will remember the assassination of abortion provider George Tiller, who was gunned down while ushering at a Wichita, Kansas, church. Yeah, just think if someone could have come to Dr. Tiller's defense.

Starbucks has the right to decide whether they will allow guns on their property--Shouldn't a church have the same right? Wouldn't the first amendment give the church MORE rights to determine behavior on their own property than Starbucks has?
Although I am non-religious and a gun rights supporter, this is more about freedom of religion than guns.
What do we do by restricting the law abiding citizens from carrying weapons to protect themselves and their family? Do you really think that a criminal minded person will even think twice whether the law says it's ok or not? And do you really think a sign posted at the door will stop them?
Let's face reality. It's sad that we live in a day and age where we have to face such a reality. But we do.
Why not allow churches to decide for themselves if they want to forbid guns? It's private property after all. Why should the government have the right to dictate that choice to a church?
Whenever I start to feel down about the crazy politicians we have here in Kansas I can always make myself feel a little bit better by looking at the insane people who get elected in Missouri, Oklahoma, and Iowa.
I'll see your Luke 22:36 and raise you a Matthew 26:52, a Revelations 13:10, a Genesis 9:6 and heck, a Luke 17:1.
i know cynthia personally. first, she is an extremely nice lady who is not in any way incapable of using a firearm. while i dont think she should advertise her permit (nor anyone else for that matter), i am all for her getting it and learning about it and the 2A rights of all Americans.
second, as for WWJD and all that, it's been quoted before and i'll quote it again: Luke 22:36 "He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one." you dont need to be a pastor to realize that even Jesus wanted his disciples to have a means to defend themselves.
cranky...have so!
Google it, the list is long, all shot by people carring guns in church. Ironic isn't it ?
Ha ha ha. Nobody's even been shot in a church. What a funny joke.
please see luke 22:35-38 dealing with the primary defense weapon of the day.

NRA: "The answer to guns is more guns."
No.
No, it's not.
