I do appreciate The Pitch staying on top of this horrible statistic, but it's not completely fair as posted by Ernest Evans to blast the rest of the KC media, at least not when it comes to Tony Rizzo of The Star, i.e. read his column today. Unfortunately, it's in the Neighborhood News section, so not sure how widely it is distributed in the metro area. But Tony has reported a number of times about the issues of senseless, incomprehensible murders taking place in our city.

Dear Pitch: As always, thanks for keeping a "running tally" of homicides in KCMO and KCK-- most of the rest of the local media has capitulated to pressure by interest groups that would prefer such news not get reported. Notice to local reporters: Denial is not a river in Egypt; people are not going to stop dying if we all pretend not to notice that it is happening. ("Where have you gone, Edward R. Murrow, KC's citizens turn their lonely eyes to you??!!") Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
