Mark Mangino and Lew Perkins just don't talk like they used to

Kansas Jayhawks football coach Mark Mangino and athletic director Lew Perkins don't talk much anymore. That was the news out of Mangino's weekly press conference yesterday.

Mangino told the press that his communication with Perkins has been "practically none" since the university launched an internal investigation into the way Mangino treats his players.

"I don't know if there should be or should not be," Mangino said of whether there should be more communication with Perkins. "You always like communication with everybody -- communication with your players, your coaches, your administrators, your support staff -- all those people. But I'm good. I'm fine and I'm working."

Sounds like Mangino and Perkins may be headed for a break up.

Kansas fans wanting to run off Mangino may want to look at what happened to Iowa State after coach Dan McCarney was run out of town.

McCarney

never made it to the level of Mangino, 2007's national coach of the

year, but he took a doormat Cyclone football program and turned it into

a contender for the Big 12 North. McCarney's successor, Gene Chizik, won a pathetic five games in two years before bolting for Auburn.

The Cyclones hired Paul Rhoads,

who led them to a 6-6 record and bowl eligibility. Trust me, Kansas

fans. You'll be longing for a .500 season when your team's cellar dwelling again.

What a travesty for the Kansas Jayhawk Football program because I talked with Coach Mark Mangino in his first year when his son, Tommie, was playing with Lawrence baseball in Maize, Kansas.

I told coach Mangino that you can build a dynasty at Kansas and will make your mark in college football and he told me, "Jeff, I plan on being here for the rest of my life because I can rebuild this program to respectibility" That is all I wanted to hear because he made a commitment to the program and I know that he would have never leave Kanas for another program.

The problem I have is with Lew Perkins who is a "pot stirrer" and was never liked at Wichita State and I have talked to many within the Wichita State program that he wants it his way!

Mark Mangino is a great man, a great family man, commited to the Kansas program, coaches around the Big 12 praises his coaching style and respect for his players but Lew Perkins has a "Witch Hunt" to get rid of someone who has done so much for Kansas football that has not been repeated before.

Coach Mangino, I wish you the best and I appreiciate our conversation we had together and that is something I will never forget. You have brought so much to Kansas Football and I am deeply saddened by your departure.

Now my question for Kansas fans and the Board of Regents is how to get rid of the tyrant, Lew Perkins, because he is the problem and should be replaced immediately! Come on Kansas fans you deserve better and if Mark Mangino is going to be replace so should Lew Perkins because he is a sponge for the Athletic Department and most people do not care for his tactics! Thank you and take care,Jeff.

Put Mangino in red, and he's the apple in the Fruit-of-the-Loom gang.
