| Archbishop Joseph Naumann |
The diocese in Portland, Maine, received more than $550,000 in contributions to help campaign against the Maine law granting marriage rights to same-sex couples. The Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas gave $10,000. The November 3 vote swung in favor of repealing marriage rights by almost 53 percent.
According to the Catholic Foundation of Northeast Kansas' Web site, its mission is to "promote the spiritual mission of the Catholic Church by encouraging stewardship. Collaborate with parishes and institutions to develop additional resources and support. Build endowed funds to ensure the vitality of the Church and its ministries. Steward responsibly the funds entrusted to the Foundation."
It also offers equity portfolios for investors who want their investment strategies to "adhere to Catholic socially responsible principles." Archbishop Naumann is the Foundation's only member, and relies on the guidance of a board of professional Catholics to make investment decisions.
Neither the Foundation nor the Archdiocese of Kansas City, KS, has responded to interview requests as of this writing.
Naumann had this to say about same-sex marriage in a June 2006 interview with Catholic news agency, Zenit:
Same-sex unions are not marriages. The attempt to put same-sex unions on equal footing with marriage is a direct attack on the family, and the Pope is right to speak out aggressively in defense of traditional marriage.
Marriage, by its natural purpose, is directed toward the complementary union of the man and the woman and the gift of children; homosexual relationships seek to remove sexuality from these goods.
Marriage is not a convenient arrangement by which two individuals seek self-gratification. It is ordered toward the gift of self, both in the form of the spouses to each other and in the raising of children.
Same-sex unions are a violation on the moral order. The premise of same-sex union is homosexual activity of the participants. Homosexual activity violates the natural law, clear biblical teaching and the consistent teaching of the magisterium of the Catholic Church.
The effort to give societal approval to same-sex unions, consciously or unconsciously, undermines traditional marriage by equating it with sinful behaviors. While in fact, traditional marriage is an opportunity to imitate the love of Jesus for his spouse the Church.

This is obtaining a bit a lot more subjective, but I a lot prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has a lot more flair, and some cool functions like 'Mixview' that let you quickly see associated albums, songs, or other users related to what you're listening to. Clicking on one particular of those will center on that item, and one more set of "neighbors" will occur into view, allowing you to navigate close to exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune "Social" is also good enjoyable, letting you find other people with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to some playlist developed depending on an amalgamation of what all your buddies are listening to, which can also be enjoyable. Individuals concerned with privacy are going to be relieved to understand you'll be able to prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so select.
After reading the article, discovered assorted stylish things. Giant will compose in the unborn more definitely instead of those newbies like me. Credit you in advance.
Gee, I wonder how many people that $10,000 would have feed or clothed?
Thanks, Christians, for (once again) totally missing the point of Christianity.
Jeez, seems like an awful waste of money....
But congrats to all the couples who are coming to CT to wed from all across the country, many of whom have been together for 20, 30 and 40 years....
And kudos to CT on the one year anniversary of its marriage equality law.
And lets not forget that marriage is firstly a civil issue in America, as marriage licenses are issued by and recorded in town halls not church halls or mosques or temples.
Onward to equality,
Joe Mustich, Justice of the Peace,
Washington, Connecticut, USA.
And to the marriage police, sexually phobic, and flat earthers, please find something else to do with your time, because life's too short. Find love...
Jeez Archbishop Naumann, such a mean spirited waste of money....
