Jerry G. Link was charged with seven crimes yesterday in connection with a four-day kidnapping, guns and rape spree he allegedly perpetrated against a woman from November 27 to 30.

Link, 49, allegedly agreed to drive a woman from Lee's Summit to his residence in Lone Jack to pick up her dog. Once there, the probable cause statement alleges, Link handcuffed the woman and then raped and sodomized her repeatedly.

Over the next few days, Link allegedly continued the sexual and physical abuse, taking occasional breaks to fire his shotgun indoors or out. When the victim tried to escape, Link allegedly grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back up his gravel driveway. The victim eventually convinced Link to drive her home at which time she called the police.

Just before midnight on November 30, the Jackson County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at Link's pad. They found the man, torn clothing allegedly belonging to the victim, a shotgun, some shell casings, a pair of handcuffs and an "adult sexual aid."

Link is no stranger to the justice system. According to Case.Net, he's been to court for several instances involving protective orders, though the latter were all dismissed.

Here are the charges: forcible rape, two counts of forcible sodomy, kidnapping, armed criminal action, and two counts of second-degree domestic assault -- all felonies. Link's bond is set at $500,000 cash.

I last saw Jerry 5 years ago and he was still the same nice guy then. This is just so sad. I too feel terrible for the victim. But as the person above also said, I feel so sad for whatever brought Jerry to this place and changed him so.

I have been shocked and saddened by this, too, as I went to high school with Jerry also and described him exactly as a couple of posts above. He was a big old teddy bear of a guy. I don't remember him ever even getting in trouble in high school. He was just a good kid. I don't remember seeing him after those days but would never in a million years have thought he would be capable of something like this. I agree...what happened to Jerry?

I am wondering the same thing. I went to high school with Jerry and he was a kind and gentle soul. This makes me so sad. I am so sorry for the victim here, but my heart goes out to the Jerry I knew long ago. I hope he can find himself again.

Have known Jerry since we were 16. He used to be a very nice guy. Never saw him mad and he wouldn't ever get in a fight, always willing to help people. What the hell happened to him?
