A quite good article and exceptional blog. Is there any way I can subscribe to new articles, you know like acquiring them on email or something like that.

okay, if you are sincerely interested, watch this program:

To the individual who asked what is to be gained about lying about global warming?

MONEY is to be gained. An election was based off of being a country that would lead the way in going green. Billions have been spent and dontated to companies in the name of going green. Mike Thompson may be a religious man, but the entire interview was about the bad science behind global warming. Think about it the Earth went from being a desert to being covered in ice and then warmed enough to support human life without any input from mankind. Why do we think that now the change has to do with us.

LOL......Mr. Betancourt proved my previous post and even managed to add in some delicious new craziness. Prince Charles? Ken Lay? Swine Flu? I'm surprised that he didn't complain about how hard it is to find a good tin foil these days.

All I've read from the anti-science global warming deniers are tired old right-wingnut talking points that have been discredited years ago. You just keep repeating your conspiracy theories about tree huggers, Algore, and NAZIS!!!, but you still don't have anything behind your rantings except for your own delusions.

just remember to follow the money. this is about corporations making money and the way to move the herd is to create a CLIMATE of fear. Propaganda is easy to manufacture and look at Al gore, he tells so many lies that not even he can distinguish the truth from fiction. since this is all about money let's have a look at BIG AL'S bank accounts. it's always about the money. it's the western mindset

Grant money. Money, control, power. There have been millions made on this fraud. Carbon trading?!!? Hello. It's a whole new commodity they want to create.

They want to tax what you exhale!?!? CO2 is not a pollutant. They have made you believe that not only is what you exhale and what vegitation needs to survive is a pollutant, but now they have made you believe cow farts and your breath should be taxed and traded in the market place!

Good grief man, there's millions of dollars at stake for these frauds. Of course they're digging in about their lies. Just like any convicted swindler, Madoff, Ken Lay, etc. This is the newest and biggest fraud of all. But this one actually harms every one of us.

It destroys industry, jobs, your freedom to drive an SUV, use a standard lightbulb, etc. I could write all night on this man. Wake up. What's to be gained?

I don't know, what was to be gained when the Natzis created the science of a superior race?! Control, money - this ain't science.

Peer review will settle this. The peer review must be done outside of the 30 or so scientists/climatologists that have orchestrated the current theory.

Nevermind that the data regarding increased global temperatures IS aligning with data. The hack at East Anglia exposes nothing but competitive researchers that lost the plot. The plot, however, is way bigger than the agenda of those researchers.

Temps from 1600-1800 were not statistically significantly different than other periods- and this does not at all refute the rapid rise in temperatures in the past century, to say nothing of the ten warmest years on record.

Dan is right but wrong. Doing silly little things isn't going to do anything, any more than changing out SUVs for Priuses will. The wheels are in motion, so I'd just get used to longer droughts and hanta virus, if I were you.

Not a big fan of Mike Thompson but I will give him credit for taking this stand. Lots of information is coming out showing how all the science behind the global warming hypotheses is lacking.

This is not to say that many of the green initiatives are bad. In fact, many of the things folks can do to "be green" can in fact save family an businesses money by reduced utility/energy costs.

What is flawed is the "green group think" that justifies extreme activities that will hurt the economy and not do one thing to stop/reduce global warming. Things like additional taxes based on the energy you use, the ability to "buy carbon foot print credits aka Al Gore" to make up for the energy you are using, or signing internal agreements that would basically send our hard earned tax dollars to 3rd world nations based on the amount of energy we consume.

It is not bad to want to do right by the environment. Frankly if each person does their part, use more energy efficient appliances, weather proof their homes to reduce energy waste, drive a little less or get fuel efficient vehicles all of this will help in the long run.

But make no mistake -- those efforts will not stop the normal cycle of nature.

Don't believe me -- do some homework. Start with Europe around the 1600 - 1800 century and the weather conditions that result in famine because crops won't grow. When you look back at history you will see why Man Made Global Warming theories are starting to get unraveled.

Go green but for the right reasons

Another interesting quote from the article, notice the word "fact":

"The central fact is that after three quarters of a century of extraordinarily mild conditions, the earths climate seems to be cooling down. Meteorologists disagree about the cause and extent of the cooling trend, as well as over its specific impact on local weather conditions. But they are almost unanimous in the view that the trend will reduce agricultural productivity for the rest of the century. If the climatic change is as profound as some of the pessimists fear, the resulting famines could be catastrophic. A major climatic change would force economic and social adjustments on a worldwide scale, warns a recent report by the National Academy of Sciences, because the global patterns of food production and population that have evolved are implicitly dependent on the climate of the present century.

Newsweek, April 28th, 1975. Huge article about "Global Cooling". That was "fact". Here's a little snippet of the article:

"Climatologists are pessimistic that political leaders will take any positive action to compensate for the climatic change, or even to allay its effects. They concede that some of the more spectacular solutions proposed, such as melting the Arctic ice cap by covering it with black soot or diverting arctic rivers, might create problems far greater than those they solve. But the scientists see few signs that government leaders anywhere are even prepared to take the simple measures of stockpiling food or of introducing the variables of climatic uncertainty into economic projections of future food supplies. The longer the planners delay, the more difficult will they find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality."

What's the next eco-horror story they are going to come up with?

Trying to save the planet is arrogant, George Carlin said. The planet has been through a lot worse than us.

In the early 1900s Scientific American said IF ONLY Americans (read white men) were allowed to farm the land in Oklahoma they would turn it into a breadbasket which would feed the nation.

So a few years later Oklahoma is made a state and opened to the white man's plow.

So how did that work out?

By the 1920s the top soil was blowing away and soon so were the farmers (blowing to the state for California. Fucked that up too).

That's the problem with incompetent people, they don't know they are incompetent and rush hell-bound-for-leather with a solution which turns out to intensify the problem.

Of course I have no answers, just like the two most vocal sides of this debate.

An on-air personality for Fox who is a bible-thumper and doesn't believe in global warming. I've never heard of such a thing! [roll eyes]

edmo--What is gained by lying about global warming? That's an honest question. I believe that man-made global warming is real, and I don't see any reason why anybody would like about it being real. Why do you think that man-made global warming is a myth? Please tell me in your own words with reputable links that back up your opinion.

Thompson is right. Global Warming is a myth. You leftist love to believe that there is proof of this but there isn't! Face it. Why do you want global warming to be proven so bad, what do you have to gain? Anyone with half a brain, especially now that it's been debunked, knows the scientists behind this were fraudulent. Give it up Peter Rugg, I know this is the pitch and this is the kind of place for an idiotic article to show up, but you really sound ignorant. Why don't you quit hugging trees and learn how to be a journalist. then you could get a real job at the falling star.
