I'll be in Tempe, Arizona, to watch Iowa State play Minnesota in the Insight Bowl, but Tim Brewster might not be patrolling the Gophers' sideline.
The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported Tuesday that Brewster's name is being talked about as the next football coach at Kansas, and Minnesota's athletic director made no guarantees that Brewster would be back for a fourth season
"There are rumors that he's going to Kansas, so I don't know," [Gophers athletic director Joel] Maturi said Tuesday. "What can I say? So I can't guarantee it, no. I can't guarantee the decisions of other people."
Maturi told the Pioneer Press that Kansas A.D. Lew Perkins hadn't contacted him, but added:
"I'm smart enough to know that (Brewster's) not going to tell me, nor is the athletic director (Lew Perkins) at Kansas going to tell me until it's a done deal."
If Perkins hired Brewster, I'd bet on a Jayhawk meltdown. Brewster's Gophers finished 6-6 this year, and his overall record is 14-23 in three seasons at Minnesota. Plus, he's never been National Coach of the Year.
But The Kansas City Star is playing spoiler, reporting today that Brewster isn't a candidate. Better tell Maturi.

The problem with Brew goes beyond just the mediocre seasons. He fired his offensive coordinator the past two years, he runs a pro-style offense with spread players he recruited which leads to a 98th ranking. His teams have scored ZERO points against Iowa the past two seasons, he is 0-11 in trophy games. He doesn't acknowledge problems directly in his press conferences. After the Iowa game he noted the Gophers outgained the Hawkeyes but failed to note that they didn't score any points! Lets hope he leaves.
It would be typical of Gopher football to mess it all up and get rid of the coach. They've got a lot of good young players and already are playing at the same level of Brewster's predecessor.
The Minnesota Football Fan doesn't have the patience for a program to build. Therefore they want Brewster to go...
What about the two recruiting class that are now ready to play next year, 16th and 24th in the country.
Those fans that want him to go are correct, Brewster should go, the Minnesota Fan doesn't deserve him nor the foundation of players he has set in place.
The Gophers finished 6-6 this year losing two games be 3 points and a tough fought loss to BCS IOWA at IOWA.
Decker, one of the top receivers in the country and the all time receiver at Minnesota was injurded and didn't play the four games.
You put 2 and 2 together. It's not the coach.
