The Joker and Claire McCaskill

Posted by Casey Lyons on Mon, Dec 21, 2009 at 1:01 PM

Pitch readers will remember this summer's vaguely racist Obama-as-Joker meme that showed up on tea-partier posters during the health-care debacle debate when U.S. pols returned to their home districts.

Today, our St. Louis sister paper, The Riverfront Times, linked to a poster depicting the same treatment for Sen. Claire "Bear" McCaskill.

In a blog post at the time of the rallies, Pitch editor C.J. Janovy quoted an academic Washington Post article about the interpretation of Joker face on Obama that concluded:
Obama, like the Joker and like the racial stereotype of the blackman, carries within him an unknowable, volatile and dangerous marker of urban violence, which could erupt at any time. The charge of socialism is secondary to the basic message that Obama can't be trusted, not because he is a politician, but because he's black.
But McCaskill? Maybe her vote in favor of health care has angered amateur Photoshoppers into reviving an embarrassing, though iconic, meme.

Uhh Critical... you say that you say republicanism is a mental illness. Tell the truth you plagarist; the radio host Micheal Savage has been using the phrase "Liberalism is a mental disorder" for many years. Give the creative person the credit for their intellectual property. Savage explains that he got it from a comment by Albert Eistein "Insanity is the action of doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result".
By the way, the founding fathers believed in Republicanism and feared democracy as nothing more than mob rule in fancy dress. It was Republicanism that ended slavery and gave the downtrodden the right to vote (women and black people) in 1920 and 1964.

Remember, a mind is a terrible thing to waster CT. Pick up a book!

This is to critical thinker; remember it was a socialist leftist who created the Joker poster. For the writer of this story; that leftist was not white so where was the racism?
Also for the writer; do you know of anyone who opposes this government take over of healthcare insurance? If you do, would you tell them to their face that they are racist? I didn't think so.

Retract your claim (right this is a NEWS story and not a editorial column)

Like baseball; wait till next year...

The republicans are uncreative, talentless, idiots. I've said it before and I'll say it again, republicanism is a mental illness.
