North Kansas City man John Dixon failed at leading the charge against gay penguin indoctrination in our public schools Monday night.
In a 3-2 decision, the North Kansas City school board denied Dixon's request that the story And Tango Makes Three be removed from circulation at all North Kansas City schools. The book is based on the true story of two male penguins at New York's Central Park Zoo who live together as a couple -- and raise a healthy young chick from an egg -- as a functioning family unit.
Aside from its obvious pro-gay nature, Dixon also believed the book was not age-appropriate for young children and didn't follow the district's policy on human sexuality education. Some board members, like Phil Holloway, saw what was going on and agreed with Dixon. "We are naive if we say this is just a book about penguins, because it's not," Holloway said.
Take a minute to look at these penguins. They can't fly. They're abnormally sized. Don't they look just a bit (ahem) queer for birds? Notice the evening-wear look, just a bit sleek and fashionable? Now read your Bible. Go ahead, we'll wait a second. Did you see any mention of penguins? No. And we all know what that means. Penguins are not natural animals. They were genetically engineered by the Obama administration and retroactively inserted into our memories via H1N1 vaccines in a sinister attempt to make our children in gay birds.
Don't laugh. This is just the next step in a long line of man-made cute animals meant to pervert us all with the homo-beast agenda. Do some research people! Deers, whales, porcupines, they all masturbate! Hummingbirds prostitute themselves for food! You think that's normal behavior? Do you think that's just nature taking it's course? WAKE UP!
You know who was working on a masturbating whale robot right before the Allies won the war? That's right, Hitler. And thank God we stopped him or masturbating whales would've overrun our shores and cities. Our national flag would've be a humpback rubbing himself against the Chrysler Building.
If anything, we need to move beyond just banning books and start putting these liberal-agenda-promoting commie authors in Gitmo. Shel Silverstein wrote a beloved children's story about getting a penetrating object inserted into you. No one seems to notice. Clifford is, at heart, a big red throbbing head that grows and grows and slobbers. Peppermint Patty's overt lesbian tendencies have been so well-documented it's a cliche.

I'm glad that you found your school years so inspirational and informative. It's great to see someone so excited about school.
However, it is quite a shame that you could not pick up on how to spell and use proper grammar. I suppose you missed that day.
This about more than a book. This is about the agenda of one minority (bigots) to oppress another (lgbt). As a tax-paying NKC resident, I'm upset that this was even put up to vote.
What do you think would happen if one noisy racist parent wanted to pull children's books from the PUBLIC LIBRARY because a black panda and white panda raised a baby panda. The NKC school district library is a public library, and like the school, it should represent the public. NKC and Missouri are home to people of all races and sexualities. Censoring minorities out of the world we raise our children in will breed bigotry and misunderstanding.
To Gail. If you were just trolling the interwebs, bravo. If you were serious, you should take note that many people from "your time" are bigots. That is no longer acceptable. Your time is over now, and the rest of the country is waiting for you to die so we can move on.
I fake Victorian sensibilities when I'm around my grandparents just to reduce the chance they'll have a heart attack, but in reality, they are wrong, and my generation will replace them. Today, communication can no longer be controlled like it could be in the 50's. Parents can no longer selectively sheild parts of the world from their children's minds, and Humanity is so much better for it.

Lulz. No seriously... you had me on the floor rolling in laughter. Nice rant.
Let me educate you... There is not a single instance of the penguins in the book having "sex with the same sex" Furthermore, (I am guessing that the book is your basis for the charge that the district is teaching sex ed/same sex ed/whatever) it is not part of any curriculum of any teacher. The book has won numerous awards and is on the shelf for anyone to read, but not part of everyday teaching. Nor is there a gay-sex unit, at least until 8th grade (kidding about the last part!).
It is up to PARENTS to monitor what their kids are reading not you (nor Mr Dixon, school board, et al.). Just because you don't like a book shouldn't prevent others that do want to read it. Are you going to suggest next that kids should not be allowed to watch "Finding Nemo" because clown fish are hermaphroditic and it is instilling "he-she" behavior.
Also before you going hollering to bring God back to schools, lets take a look what the Bible endorses:
(1) Killing children because the make fun of you (II Kings 2:23-24)
(2) Beastiality(?) or at least promiscuous sex with well endowed lovers (Ezekiel 23:19-20)
(3) Infanticide (Psalm 137:9)
(4) Incest (Genesis 19:30-36) I could go on and on, but you get the idea...
Of course the Bible doesn't endorse all of these things (except maybe the killing of children who make fun of you... seriously). But how would the average reader know that without guidance? The Bible like Tango requires a little discretion and can serve as a great tool to teach. Take the time to explain things (even if you are explaining that in your opinion it is wrong)
So, stop being so homophobic and thinking a book will turn kids gay. Let a wonderful book teach that there are other kinds of different families than the common Mom,Dad, Child(ren).
I personally feel that in todays society hiding the truth of what is going on in society is hypocritical..Regardless its Discrimination against race color creed sexual orientation etc.If we do not teach our children not to be hypocrites and racists then WHAT ARE WE Teaching them.....
I think its a disgrace that you people are allowing those kind of books into the NKC Public schools. It's sickening. When I was young I went to meadowbrook when Mr snyder was Principle.I guess that's when they had good morals and taught kids the basic, reading,writing and arithmetic, and left the sex education to the upper grades of teaching sex between the opposite sex not the same sex. I cant believe that the NKC school district would be that hard up and lower theirselves to that level of teaching children it's ok to have sex with the same sex.
You take God out of our schools because some people are offended, but it's OK to put gay books into our schools to corrupt young childrens minds well you know what I'm offended. I can't believe that your falling into the hands of socialism and Communism and dictating what you and the government wants to teach our young children its a disgrace. Why don't you guys do your jobs of teaching values and leave the sex education to the parents if thats what your teaching young children. Reading books like my two mommies, and tango makes three etc should never be in the school libraries, if you can have those kind of books in school then lets bring God back into the schools because thats discrimination when you have one but wont allow the other.
