Santa's shakedown man, Krampus, should visit ... Rod Jetton

We knew Rod Jetton, the former speaker of the Missouri House, was a dirtball. Jetton, a Republican, worked as a political consultant at the same time wielded the gavel. His reign is reportedly at the center of an FBI investigation into "pay-to-play" deals in Jeff City.

But then came his arrest on suspicion of felony assault, and words like "scumbag" felt inadequate.

In November, a woman told police in Sikeston, Missouri, that Jetton had come to her home bearing wine. She says Jetton hit and choked her as she faded in and out of consciousness during intercourse.

Jetton will be arraigned in January. Before then, Krampus, the demon who accompanies Santa Claus, delivering something more behavior-modifying than a lump of coal, should pay Jetton a visit.

See, Jetton's already of guilty of hypocrisy. While in office, he

liked to trumpet his commitment to "family values." In fact, he

replaced a committee chair who, after the U.S. Supreme Court stuck down

a ban on gay sex, inserted language into a crime ball undoing

Missouri's prohibition on same.

Jetton said the committee chair, Scott Lipke, had been "deceitful." But Jetton also wanted homosexuality to remain criminalized, at least in spirit. He called gay sex "deviate" [sic] in an op-ed piece detailing the glee in he took in demoting the bill's handler, state Rep. Lipke.

Of course, a commitment to Christianist decency was just something Jetton liked to toss out to the Gomers who comprise the voting majority in rural Missouri. Jetton and his wife divorced earlier this year. And based on the available evidence, he'll be happy if a judge or jury comes to the conclusion that the night in Sikeston consisted of casual sex that needed better ground rules.

Just look at the fucking guy. His official state portrait (right) screams, "Remember the biggest asshole in your high school? I'm that creep, times seven."

If Krampus has time, he should also visit the Missouri Republicans who chose Jetton to serve as their speaker. If he's their idea of good leadership, they can't be trusted with a thrift-store Parcheesi set, let alone the the lives of 5.9 million people.

There are more family values in one chapter of the Hell's Angels than the entire GOP.

OK, add in the Democratic Party too.
