Posted by CJ Janovy on Wed, Dec 30, 2009 at 9:57 AM

This week's cover story was wrong as soon as it went to press.

Justin Kendall writes in "The Year in Killa City":

As this issue of The Pitch goes to press, only 48 hours remain in 2009.

If no one is murdered by the time this issue hits the streets, 2009

will close with 109 homicides in Kansas City, Missouri.

The 110th was last night. At 9:59 p.m., Kansas City, Missouri police responded to a shooting call at a residence in the 5900 block of Cypress Place. There they found a shooting victim, described as a black male approximately 30 years old, showing no signs of life; he was pronounced dead a short time later.
