Want the World Cup to come to KC? Act now

It may be too late. The panjandrums preparing the U.S. bid to host the World Cup in 2018 or 2022 may have cut Kansas City from the list of possible sites for soccer's premier event.

But if they haven't, an online petition is letting fans of the sport and the city make a push for Arrowhead Stadium.

Kansas City is one of 27 U.S. cities being considered by the USA Bid Committee. FIFA, world soccer's governing body, requires aspiring host nations to make available 12 to 18 stadiums.

According to one report, USA Bid Committee was expected to meet the weekend before Christmas and begin narrowing the list of 27. But the GoUSABid Web site is still accepting petition signatures
