Shawnee man Jake Ruether, 18, was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and aggravated assault today after allegedly stabbing a man multiple times in the chest during a fit of road rage.

According to initial reports, the stabbing took place at 4 p.m. Sunday near 95th Street and Quivira Road. The victim was taken to a hospital and is expected to fully recover. The suspect was arrested Monday after Shawnee police officers recognized a truck fitting the description of the alleged attacker.

The Johnson County Sheriff's office noted  that Ruether was in possession of drug paraphernalia at the time of his arrest (although Ruether has not been charged with possession of paraphernalia).

Ruether is being held on $100,000 bond in the Johnson County jail. A judge ordered that Ruether have no contact with the victim or witnesses as a condition of his bond.

Ruether's first court appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Johnson County District Court.

Your picture art is very distasteful, this is serious, the young man stabbed could have died! I know him personally and find your picture to be offensive! I think someone should apologize to the family...this looks like you condone stabbing!
