Former Kansas Attorney General and Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline might be making an appearance at the trial of Scott Roeder, the man accused of killing Wichita abortion provider George Tiller.

Roeder's defense attorneys have subpoenaed Kline, and public defender Mark Rudy told the Wichita Eagle that Kline will be called to testify about his attempts to prosecute Tiller.

The Eagle quoted a statement issued by Kline saying he wouldn't be testifying willingly. "I still believe in the rule of law, whereas

Mr. Roeder has allegedly decided to take the law into his own hands. I

have always condemned any act of violence toward Dr. Tiller," Kline wrote.

Kline wasn't the only one receiving a subpoena via Roeder's defense team; Deputy Attorney General Barry Disney, who unsuccessfully prosecuted Tiller on 19 misdemeanor charges related to financial transactions and late-term abortions, also received one.

What with Phil Kline grabbing his (hopefully) last 15 minutes of fame, and possibly joined by his associates at Operation Rescue, Troy Newman and Cheryl Sullenger, this has all the makings of a world-class liars' contest.
