William C. Ross allegedly raped a 22-year-old woman in front of her children after claiming his truck was stuck in front of her home near 37th and Olive and asking for help.
This is unquestionably the most of disturbing story of the day -- so far. Jackson County prosecutors charged Ross, 29, with forcible rape and burglary.
The Kansas City Star gives this account from police reports: Ross and another man had knocked on the woman's door around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, asking if they could go in to warm up. This scenario repeated a few times until the woman finally agreed to give the men a bucket of hot water to melt the snow around their truck.
When the woman brought the third bucket to Ross, he allegedly pushed her down and pulled down her pants. The woman screamed, "I have kids here!"
Ross then allegedly dragged the woman into a hallway and began raping her. The man with Ross heard screaming, ran inside the home and yelled at Ross to stop. The man and Ross began shoving each other, and then Ross allegedly dragged the woman to a bed and began raping her again -- in front of her screaming children.
The other man pulled Ross away, and the two left.
Makes you not trust anyone.
