The body of a woman was found in the trunk of a burning car in Lafayette County Monday night, KMBC Channel 9 reports. Authorities are investigating the case as a homicide although the woman's cause of death or identity has not been released.
An autopsy revealed that the victim was 5-feet tall and light skinned, KMBC reported.
Authorities say the car, a silver 2007 Toyota Corolla, was reported stolen from Merriam, Kansas, on January 9.
The car was reportedly found just a few miles north of Bates City on Sni-A-Bar road.
