Clothes Whores: Enthusiastically examining Kansas City's sartorial shenanigans

There's an evil bra in every lingerie drawer. Its straps just won't stay up. The lace causes nipple itch. It was on sale and never truly fit, hence the advent of the term "quadraboob."

clair de lune, the shmancy Overland Park lingerie boutique at 119th and Roe in Hawthorne Plaza, is hosting its 6th annual Great Bra Exchange now through February 13. For each gently used bra they bring in, customers will receive $15 off new items at the store. The donated bras will be given to the residents of Hope House, the largest domestic violence shelter in Missouri.

Since the first Great Bra Exchange five years ago, more than 2000 bras have been donated to the nonprofit, according to the boutique's owner, Terry Levine. That means clair de lune's customers have clothed more than 4,000 breasts in need, which is a beautiful thing.

An ill-fitting bra won't change its ways, so turn it loose. (Not the yellowed, fraying one you've held onto since high school. That one is done. Throw it away.)

Set them free.
