Don't let anyone tell you that Missouri's threats to jump to the Big Eleven Ten are about anything other than money. Lots and lots of money.

A story in last Friday's St. Louis Business Journal says Missouri's athletic department would rake in an additional $10 million annually.

The St. Louis Biz Journal reports that Missouri collected $8.4

million from the Big 12. That figure could grow to about $10 for 2009.

Still, the way the Big 12 doles out money (the more TV appearances you

make, the more money you get) leaves Missouri trailing five schools in

pay. Compare that to the nearly $18.8 million each Big Ten school

received in 2008.

Of course, the Big Ten covets Notre Dame. Also mentioned have been Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and Nebraska.

The Big Ten is exploring the idea of expansion but there's no timetable.
