Monday

Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! Celebrations are happening all around the metro today and through the week, including a documentary screening and speech today from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m. at the Kansas City Arts Institute.

Tuesday

From 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, KC Live is hosting a blood drive to benefit disaster relief in Haiti. Blood donors will get free pizza. Monetary donations will also be accepted by Heart to Heart International.

Wednesday

The border war between KU and MU takes to the ice on Wednesday, with a hockey match-up at the Independence Events Center.

Thursday

Find yourself a bargain at Briarcliff Village during the Inside Walk Sale, which starts Thursday at 10 a.m. Stores will push items for up to 70 percent off. Bonus: Green Acres Market at Briarcliff Village will share the "secret of longevity" during a free seminar from 7 to 9 p.m. (Reservations requested.)

Friday

Dr. Angela Davis will give the Second Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Keynote Address at Swinney Recreation Center. Tickets to that event are free but must be reserved.
