Snapped this photo of the scene outside the Instant Tax Service office on 39th Street (just off Main) around 1 p.m. today. Obscured by the police horse are about half a dozen people who were trying to collect their income tax checks. Inside were a handful of other people and a handful of police officers. (Out of the shot is another police cruiser.)
The angry folks were unhappy with what they say is Instant Tax Service's lack of speedy -- instant? -- results. One woman told me that she was told her check wouldn't arrive until January 29.
I left a message with Instant Tax Service. I'll update if anyone there responds.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about. Instant Tax Service was just awesome. I received a hefty refund for just a tiny fee. The staff was helpful and pleasant. I made some new friends and plan on stopping-by from time to time...
Huntington Park ofc SCAMERS do not go there..warning they ripped me off for $1800 dollars charged me $650 and they didn't even know about it until i got the office check!! i hope they burn in hell this refund was for my kids and disabled husband...people do not go there..all these complaints for nothing!!!
if it wasn't a flash mob it should have been. my husband filed wit them they held his money and told him he couldn't get it because this was second quarter,basically they have to make up for them anticipated loans they promised other people on our behalf.False advertisement and lied on the fees the lady told us one thing the next thing you know we 2 more hundred how bad can u get i smell lawsuit.BBB you'll here from me.and instant tax one word LAWYER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This company Instant tax service is a scam company, they have cheated several franchisees, they will even give you official signed contarcts, but they have no value to it.
This company is just like to one you see in movies that rip off innocent people.
Even the attorney who works there are scamsters, they are all part of it.
Hi, not 2 defend ITS, but I use 2 work there a few years back. If u have problems u need 2 contact the IRS. Granted the bank can help @ times n most casrs its better 2 call IRS even if its hard 2 get through. On the prices that u would get charged would/should show 3 prices 4 each loan n case u dont get approved 4 them. As 4 the fees ITS charges it goes by each form extra they have 2 fill out, just like other tax places charge fees may vary tho. And yes ITS choose sum messed up companys 4 their loans when I worked there. The year after when I went back was a new manager, which is y KCMO has had problems. He hired all new people that had no business doing others taxes. Im glad I didnt work there again, after all the problems. Hope every1gets there money. Just remember there r always new people working 4 tax places, its just sum either r lazy 2 explain, shldnt b workin there, weither it b the preparers, or managers. Even H&R block, etc companys have had their issues. Take care.
Yeah your wrong they are not a good company they screwed my taxes up by 2000 dollars and I am not happy and I will NEVER go through them again
I just did my taxes here about two weeks ago, did not have a problem with getting them on time. I did have a problem with the fees, was not told how much they would take out my check. They said they did not know because the bank take the fees and send the rest. When i picked up my check they had took 528.00 out. That is way to much in my whole 17 years of working i never paid this much. So i contact the bank they go through the bank told me they only took 30 bucks out and it is aganist the law not to tell us what they are taking out are check. Now they are doing an investigation on these people, i also contact the bbb and these people get a f at alot of they company's now I'am waiting for a lawyer to call me back to see about a class action suit. California law are alittle diffirent from other states and they are breaking the law. Contact the bank if you are having problems with these people!
Yes if you go to an atm. my friend did it here in ga and her's was like $3000
i am going to report them to the irs until somthing is done about this , jackson hewitt charges only 325 for taxes to be done and they are trying to charge almost 600 somthing is not rite about that.i even am thinking about contacting the news media about this , one woman that went to thier office was mad cause they ripped her off 2000 dollars thier was about 20 people at the check cashing place where they rent a space.
yea here in houston texas they are doing the same thing , just lying to every one and when you call them they wont answer your call it is at hwy6 and i-10 northwest houston , can we take all our refund out of our insight card at once and where ? some one help me please.
Instant Tax Service is the biggest scam EVER!!!!!! They are lying and stealing from the poor people of America. They should be shutdown!
It is here as well in Georgia Instant Tax Service Keep saying everyday it will be the next day and I have an insight card for them to load money on. These tax services always say they can make it better for you and the truth is none can do anything, you pay for 24 to 48 hr. money service and you still wait for 2 or more weeks.

ITS this year cannot do RALs and each owner (Z) is basically being forced by the Franchisor to charge over $400 just for an RT. If the person doing your taxes is telling you that you have been declined they are misleading you because they could never offer a RAL in the first place. For weeks this company has participated in false advertising about last paystub loans (on Jan. 4th they knew they could no longer offer the loans but continued to advertise in markets for up to 10 days) and now this....
This company is truly corrupt and the IRS should investigate the Franchisor's corrupt practices and excessive fees that they often brag about.
Actually, these people are not stupid, they are just in a hurry. I always do my own taxes online because mine are not complicated. This year, I needed money now so I went to instant tax services because they still had signs up that said "cash in 10 min." and so on. After finishing all documentation and showing me fees, his being $299 and the banks being around $150, he tells me i wont get a check until the 29th of jan. and then proceeds to tell me he thought i already knew because its been all over the news that that bank is no longer giving instant cash. And goes on to say that bank is the bank that everybody goes through! He was hurt that i walked away from them. I was lucky they were honest with me.

I do my taxes with Instant tax and they actual dont charge you for a ral its and rt. Maybe ppl should stop being so stupid and look over there paper work instead of just signing anything!!!!

The problem is that instant tax service offered ral thur sbbt, but sbbt states thats they are not doing ral loans this year. Sbbts stated that tax preparers were told in advance of this. Instant tax service charged these people for a ral loan which was never there. So they were not declined!!! A friend just went throught this. I told her that Sbbt states on there website that they do not offer Ral loan this year. She did it anyway. It cost her $541.00 to do what cost me $39.99. If you look up this company on the net, they do alot of scams!

R.A.L is a loan the bank gives you then they collect from the IRS the bank is not obligated to anyone if the bank says NO then it's NO the residents in Kansas City need to understand that the bank owes you nothing I get my taxes done at Instant Tax Service every year they are not bad. The way the economy is today no one should get a refund our government is the one to blame not the people of Instant Tax Service.
Ha. I actually snapped a shot of those two horse cops heading west up Armour. I figured it was a new way to patrol Hyde Park where Horses Asses are fairly common and two more would just blend in.
