Deangelo Graham was fatally shot while allegedly attempting to rob a man who was washing his car in the 2700 block of Merriam Lane, Kansas City, Kansas, police say.

The 16-year-old Graham and another man allegedly attempted the heist.

Graham's death is Kansas City, Kansas' third homicide of 2010.

A family friend told KCTV 5 that Graham was a "good kid" who moved away from KCK to escape a violent neighborhood. But Graham grew homesick and returned.

If you have a tip about Graham's death, call the KCK Police Department's Robbery Unit and Major Case Unit at 913-573-6070 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

You are right its sad that he died because of the stupid thing that he did. I feel for his family but feel more for the victim. I know him and he did not want that kid to die, but DeAngelo didn't give him much of a choice it was either DeAngelo or the victim. DeAngelo had the choice to point that gun and decided to victimize an innocent person. Because of the stupid act that Deangelo and his so called buddies tried to pull he died and his so called buddies left him laying there dying. This poor victim will have to live the rest of his life with this and it is tearing him apart. I don't think he deserved to die but its better him than the innocent victim who had no choice.

This comment is for the people tlkn down on mi boi delo. Although I knew de for a couple of months I knew his past & didnt judge him. But everyone sayin that is good he died is dumb. De moved to louisiana to try & get away from KC.Then he got homesick. He really was a good kid. He just made a bad choice that took his life. To u allit might seem like that's what he deserved, but i thtink no one deserves to die even if they make a stupid decision. They should be given a second chance. Had he wouldve live through this I do think he shouldve been sent to jail to for his crime. But I miss mi friend & may he rest in peace. And I send out much love to all his family & friends

I am sure a lot of us who have blogged on here have made mistakes. But I know myself would never ever think about harming another person unless in self defense. I grew up with very little money but I went out and took two jobs while attending high school to help my parents and to get what I needed. I never would think about taking from others because of being too lazy to go out and work for it. The difference is we were taught good morals and ethics. This is not a bad mistake this is a choice he made, he could have worked for the money instead of trying the easy way out. He died because he had no morals. This poor victim will have to live with this for the rest of his life because of the stupid choice this kid and his so called buddies made. I pray for this victim everyday and that the other two will be locked up forever. from what I understand the other two took off and tried to blame a drive by shooting for the injuries of one of them. They obviously cared alot about thier friend who layed there dying. This is the kind of friends I would love to have. And girlfriend I hope in the future you pick better boyfriends. I am sure your parents were real proud of this last one.

To Deangelo's girlfriend and uncle: I am sorry for your loss, am I am sure when he was younger he was a good kid. But he chose to change that by trying to rob and kill an innocent GOOD family man who has worked hard all his life to get what he has. I only feel sorry for Deangelo because he made the choice to become a cold hearted thug. He could have made the right decision and walk away instead he put himself in this position and was killed because of the choice HE made. I am just glad the victim who I know was able to defend himself and stop a murder from happening to him. The victim is the GOOD person, not the thugs that decided to do this. He has to live with this for the rest of his life. He didn't have the choice like Deangelo did. I hope the other two rot in jail so they can not destroy other innocent peoples lives like he did this victim.

A "bad decision" is drinking the water in Mexico or becoming an Amway salesman or lending your loser cousin a hundred dollars. Armed robbery is more than a bad decision. Threatening someone's life is more than a bad decision. Those are major, telling individual life choices, and the people responsible for raising that individual should be the *last* people to speak about what the right thing to do is in the aftermath.

Most "good persons" don't wake up in the morning with the thought of theft and murder blazing across their cortexes, such that the "decision" is even present in their minds.

Set your own house in order. I wonder how many other of your children we should be afraid to share the same side of the street with.

I am Deanglo's uncle. I will like to say that Delo was a good kid that made a bad choice. We all make or have made bad choices in our lives. They just never ended up this tragedly. But if we look back in our past we may be able to think of an incendent that could have ended up like this. If you cant than just thank God for keeping you on the right path. The bible talks about a thief on the cross with Jesus. And the bible showed God's mercy to forgive anyone. This man enter heaven so I believed my nephew did to.
Don't judge let ye be judged.

Our kids need all our help. Say what you may but i'm determine to turn this tragedy into something positive for our kids. Please our kids need prayer.

He got what he deserved. This should not be considered a homicide. It should be considered a suicide.

I love how they say allegedly. The no good punks (3 of them) had guns and tried to rob and more than likely kill the victim, because that is what thugs like that do. They have no heart. I am so glad another thug is off the street. I know the victim and he is a hardworking family man unlike the thugs that decided to try and end a good mans life because they are to lazy to get a job like normal good people. He should have been in school getting the free education we all pay for.

Yet off to the right of this page is, "Killa City 2010: The victims and the accused"

By this inclusion it is implied the deceased is a victim.

@R -- In the post, I write that Deangelo Graham was an armed robbery suspect. The KCK police list him as a homicide. That's why he is counted.

report
Posted by Justin Kendall on 01/19/2010 at 2:27 PM

Deangelo was killed in self-defense by a person whose life was being explicitly threatened by two armed gunmen.

That you should include the removal of this man from society in your "Killa City" count shows just how opportunistic this "body count" feature has become.

How well do you sleep, knowing that you brazenly insult true KC victims' families?
