What to do this week

Posted by Crystal K. Wiebe on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 at 8:00 AM

It's possible to party like it's the weekend -- or at least get out of the house for some life-enriching reason -- every day (or night). Here's what we suggest this week:

Today

Summer in the 80s -- is there a better time to hearken back to? During the Monday Brew and View event, Lawrence's Jackpot Music Hall is screening Summer Rental, Summer School and One Crazy Summer, starting at 8 tonight.

Tuesday

Slam dunk action.
The UMKC Kangaroos and North Dakota State Bisons go head-to-head in men's basketball at 8 p.m.

Wednesday

Vintage pics.
At 6 p.m., the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library presents the inaugural exhibition of the new Orval Hixon Gallery -- a collection of celebrity shots taken during the silent film era by Hixon, a famed local photographer

Thursday

Tough chicks.
Images of Nature Art Gallery is hosting a 5:30 p.m. wine reception to kick off a new season of tackle football performed by the KC Storm.
