Last week's Supreme Court ruling that scrapped limits on corporate campaign contributions unleashed an avalanche of outrage. With big business raining cash on their preferred candidates and eating up the airwaves with attack ads, so much for democracy, right?
Good question for David Levinthal.
Levinthal is the communications director for the Center for Responsive Politics in Washington, D.C., the top non-partisan watchdog when it comes to campaign finance. With the fallout from the Supreme Court ruling, every media outlet in the country has been vying for experts from CRP, but tonight Levinthal will be talking ethics here in Kansas City.
Hosted by Jackson County Committee for County Progress, a Democratic organization, the "Public Forum on Ethics Reform" will tackle the role of money in Missouri politics, as well. On tap to discuss their efforts to clean up Jefferson City: Representatives Jason Kander (D- Kansas City), Paul LeVota (D- Independence) and Gary Dusenberg (R- Blue Springs).
