A Wichita jury found confessed killer Scott Roeder guilty of first-degree murder for killing Wichita abortion provider George Tiller.
The jury also found Roeder guilty of two counts of aggravated assault against two witnesses.
The state will be seeking a "hard 50" sentence.
Jurors deliberated for less than an hour Friday morning.
On Thursday, Roeder testified that he killed Tiller at a church service last May.
Attorneys for Tiller's family issued the following statement on behalf of Tiller's wife, Jeanne Tiller, and family:
"The family of Dr. George Tiller would like to thank the jury, District Attorney Nola Foulston and her office and law enforcement for their service in this difficult matter. Once again, a Sedgwick County jury has reached a just verdict. We also want to thank George's countless friends and supporters in Wichita and around the country who have offered their comfort.
At this time we hope that George can be remembered for his legacy of service to women, the help he provided for those who needed it and the love and happiness he provided us as a husband, father and grandfather."

Actually, the record of FORCED ABORTION is quite lengthy, not to mention personally and morally repugnant.
I doubt very much that Tiller the Killer had any qualms about forced abortion. Christin Gilbert died after having an abortion at his clinic. And Sebelius obstructed justice in that case. Efforts to investigate whether or not Gilbert was the victim of incest/rape should have been made as she was a minor with the mental age of someone under the age of ten even though in actuality she was a teenager.
Those who think that all women who get abortions want them are mislead.
yes I will be glad when those women are gone too. I don't jackoff, i have sex. you liberals are pathetic. Don't challenge me, I eat pieces of this like you for breakfast.
Then don't jack off dude. You know those are potentially babies too. Just remember some skidmark like roeder might decide in the future that masterbaters deserve death too.
edmo - you DO realize that Tiller didn't kidnap any of those women off the street and strap them to his operating table against their will, don't you? They all not only volunteered, they sought him out and went through a fairly rigorous screening process to obtain his services.
Will you be happy when they're gone, too? And if not, why not?
I don't think Roeder was right to kill him, but Tillers actions are inexcusable. Killing babies in the name of helping women is a crock. I'm no extremist just glad Tiller is gone.
