This ought to bolster abortion rights advocates' calls for federal authorities to step up their investigation of an alleged network of violent anti-abortion extremists.
The Associated Press reports that Shelley Shannon, the woman who shot and wounded George Tiller in 1993, has issued a warning of more violence against abortion providers in the wake of Scott Roeder's first-degree murder conviction for killing Tiller.
Shannon, a convicted abortion clinic arsonist, is locked up in Minnesota and sent the chilling e-mail from prison to anti-abortion activist Dave Leach. The AP received a copy, which reads, in part:
"Abortionists are killed because they are serial murderers of innocentchildren who must be stopped, and they will continue to be stopped,
even though Scott didn't get a fair trial," she wrote. "May God bless
Scott for his faithfulness and brave actions and stand."
Shannon's e-mail echoed a claim from Roeder that there would be future
violence against abortion providers. After his arrest, Roeder told the
AP, "I know there are many other similar events planned around the
country as long as abortion remains legal."
You'd think this might trigger interest from the feds. You'd be wrong. FBI spokeswoman Bridget Patton told the AP that Shannon's e-mail wasn't specific enough to be investigated.
"Any direct threat against a specific doctor or specific clinicfacility would be fully addressed and would basically put us on alert
-- but it would have to be a specific threat," Patton said.
Feminist Majority Foundation vice president Kathy Spillar told The Kansas City Star during the trial:
"We can onlyhope that the network will be dismantled, and until it's dismantled,
we're waiting for the next murder."
Sounds like her fears aren't unwarranted.

Anyone who kills babies for a living is asking for bad things to happen to them, even if it is legal. When Hitler was ruler over Germany, he "legally" killed millions of Jews. We all know what happened to him. After all, the common rule of ethics is, Do unto others as you'ld have them do unto you.
Thats some pretty scary stuff dude. I mean really.

Why aren't these people considered terrorists...?
For the same reason folks who engrave scripture on M16s are considered patriotic.
