Heavy equipment is tearing down Hereford House, the iconic meatery that arson put on the path to demolition.

The restaurant on W. 20th Street exploded after midnight on October 20, 2008. Investigators quickly determined the blast happened on purpose. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives eventually released images of two suspects captured by security cameras. No arrests have been made.

Damage was estimated at $1 million, and the restaurant did not reopen after fire fighters put out the blaze. Rod Anderson, who operated Hereford House, filed for personal bankruptcy last year.

A member of the wrecking crew said he expected the job to be completed by Monday. Click on the jump for more photos.

I'm sorry to hear that the hereford house is gone. I use to work there, it was my first job, I hope they are going to rebuild because, it's one of the plases I always tell people to go. I now live in texas and you know how texans like to talk about their staeks, well I think, if you could let them taste what K.C. have been tasting for the past 100 years, they would think twice befor saying anything about steak.
