Is this the best we can do in America? Legislation passed in Kansas - let me guess...by the same geniuses that want to teach a 4000 year old Earth to children in public schools. If anyone in Kansas possesses at least a few more brain cells than teeth they should see the stupidity of this.
We are on the edge of another dark age in America.

This is a travesty of justice....and another example of the war on drugs as principally a war waged by US govt. and law enforcement against its own citizens...it is crystal clear by everyone on this side of LE that this is less about Illinois Bundleflower and more about a $700,000 payday...God bless Jon Sloan and BBB for having the creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and testicular fortitude to compete with WalMart and regressive LE attitudes to sell his LEGAL products...

Shame on Jefferson County LE for masking their impotency against real crime by destroying the lives of one of their most innovative local businessmen. I pray to God you reap what you sow.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. What's next? Train rides to a re-education camp? When do we get a gov't minder checking up on you every day to make sure that you toe the gov't line?

Land of freedom? Not unless you're a large corporation that provides campaign funds to our 'elected leaders'.

man this is ridiculous, i hope he goes to court to fight the hell out of the govt. Plus when they raid your place, they fuck everything up the best they can and just leave it like a present. many cities are starting to understand that marijuana is something not dangerous compared to the many things out their I.E cigarettes, alcohol, ect., and their going after something that is synthetic to it, not enough words to describe in the dictionary house stupid they are.....

Okay folks,

Let me make sure I understand this correctly...

This scenario apparently involves government employees marching into legal enterprises - and confiscating their property / inventory?

Might be permissible if they had a warrant, but then again, requisite standard for obtaining such documents - is probable cause. In other words, the affidavit must articulate specific facts or circumstances that a crime has been, is, or will be committed. Perhaps some judges would agree to issue a warrant on the last point (because K2 will "inevitably" be outlawed) but doing so would seem highly questionable.

For the moment, that product "is" legal - no two ways about it. Therefore, it would appear their seizure of certain inventory items - is very much out of bounds. When we live under a government that operates by whim, something is very, very wrong. Though not specifically codified yet, certain people have evidently taken it upon themselves to proclaim K2 it is now illegal, merely "because they said so?" What on Earth is going on, here?

If the article is indeed accurate, our general populous will likely be completely oblivious - although they should (realistically speaking) express grave concerns. This is a "big deal" any way one looks at it, potentially representing significant encroachments upon our collective, Constitutional rights.

Speaking of the U.S. Constitution - I seem to be out of toilet paper at the moment, and we're not really using it anymore...

Just saying...

It is synthetic. The active ingredients are purported to be jwh-018 and jwh-073 which are research chemicals discovered in the 90s by an undergraduate student at Clemson University intended to study the effects of cannabinoid agonists on CB1 and CB2 receptors in the brain. Most of the arguments made against it in the KS state legislature are either unfounded or just plain reactionary. It probably should be regulated somehow to stop children and parolees from buying it, but not added to the list of Schedule I controlled substances. Even the American Medical Association has reversed its long-held stance that real cannabis belongs on the federal schedule I because it is not a narcotic. And to anyone who says it's dangerous because it's long-term effects have not been established, two things:
1. There is evidence to suggest that cannabis has been used by humans for about 5000 years. There have been decades of studies on that showing it is safer than alcohol, and yet it is still illegal (despite recent polls showing almost half of Americans support decriminalizing it for everyone, and 80% for medical use). Additionally, there has never been a documented case of anyone ever overdosing on cannabis. Alcohol and prescription medications on the other hand... So, to argue that K2 should be banned for this reason without concurrently proposing or supporting bills to ban alcohol or decriminalize cannabis is nothing short of hypocritical.
2. For anyone who believes having FDA approval makes something safe--Splenda/sucralose is not safe. There are plenty of anecdotal accounts online of people experiencing flu-like symptoms (headaches, chills, hot-flashes, upset stomach) and heart-palpitations (some severe enough to cause hospitalization) from ingesting that. The FDA approved that on about 120 studies (mostly animal--only about 14 on humans) which were all conducted by the manufacturer. Chemically, it is chlorinated sucrose. The manufactuer compares that to table salt, but it's not true. Structurally, it is more similar to pesticides like DDT. The manufacturer claims that it does not get absorbed in the body, but their own studies show that around 14% of it does. Also, the manufacturing process may result in impurities (like heavy metals) that can build up in the system, so--even though 14% may seem like a small amount once--what does that look like over time? And yet I don't see anyone in the KS legislature clamoring to ban that. And it's even available for TODDLERS to ingest!!!
Our laws should be based on principle and facts, not just reactionary fear. Rob Olson (R-Olathe) thinks he's scoring easy political points with this one. Not in my book. I usually don't vote in local elections but will likely vote against him this fall for this one issue alone, regardless of who his opponent is or any other views they may hold.
With the state facing a budget shortfall, people losing their houses, and unemployment hovering around 10% nationally and locally, this is one of the very first things the KS state legislature chose to focus on at the start of their 2010 session? Yet another reason to vote against Rob Olson in the fall.

Nothing ILLEGAL has happened here!!! Where do they get off arresting this man?!? Maybe they need to learn the laws themselves before they "enforce" them on incnocent people. This poor man has now had his entire life turned upside down for what? selling plants that we can go buy at Home Depot or Wal-Mart? Where's the raid on them???

These FDA nazis and their law enforcement goons are the puppets and whores to the mighty BOOZE business and big Pharma. The two entities that lose the most money to people getting high, and have the most politicians in their pockets to do their bidding and protect their revenue source.

"Diethyltryptamine as contained in Mimosa Hostilis powder and 21 boxes of Mimosa Hostilis bark, Chacruna (Psychotrin Viridis), Illinois Bundleflower (Desmanthus Illinoisis), Epena (Virola Theriodora), Chaliponga (Diplopterys Cabrerana), and Cebil Seeds"

Huh? DET is a synthetic. It's not found in these plants. Many of these plants can be found at your neighborhood florist: san pedro & morning glories, for example. Or they are protected for religious purposes, like the ayahuasca herbs. And toads!? Are you kidding me!? They bought em at a pet shop. These country prosecutors need to do their homework before going on a witch-hunt. It's the 21st century and your chasing after people for selling toads! And about this K2 nonsense, I think it's stupid to be selling experimental chemicals laced on herbs, but even the DEA website says JWH-18/73 aren't covered under the CSA.

How can this even happen? If they took a liquor stores entire stock. Would that be legal to? what the fuck.

K2 is legal in the state of Kansas, for the moment. I think someone needs to organize a mass sit-in ... something along the lines of a few dozen people smoking K2 joints on the steps of the Kansas Capitol or Governors Mansion.
