Lawrence T-shirt shop Joe College is now hawking T-shirts that might make Kansas State basketball coach Frank Martin's blood boil.
The shirts say "Frank Martin mows my lawn," you know, because Martin's parents were Cuban immigrants. The privilege of wearing one goes to anyone dumb enough willing to shell out $15.95 (to look like a doucher).
So would you buy one?
Would you buy a "Frank Martin mows my lawn" T-shirt?(polling)
Hat tip to Bottom Line.

These shoes will allow you to showcase your prowess and the sophistication that is your birthright. Right since the birth of the stiletto, it has been a woman's right to be able to dress appropriately and nicely.
This situation warrants the statement, Joe College is racist. There are no excuses for a company to produce something like this. I think poking fun is okay, but there is no excuse for being ignorant.
FYI: This response in no way is meant to say anything towards the University of Kansas, though I'd like to say, "GO CATS!"
"First of all, just because a company makes a shirt that is somewhat racist does not mean that everyone at KU is racist."
"Secondly, for all the posters that say KU fans are racist because of the shirt and then say "He's not Mexican, he's Cuban," that is not a good point to make."
You're going to use the term "somewhat racist" then try to jump on your holier than thou white horse and talk down on people for being racist? Considering something that IS racist, SOMEWHAT racist, is racist in itself. (Yeah you read that right)
And by the way I'm not attacking the KU fan base as a whole. I'm attacking the people responsible for creating the shirt. As well as anyone who thinks it's funny. Unfortunately there are plenty of KU fans on the message boards eating this up like pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. yeah they've been taken off the shelves but do you honestly think they won't be distributed in some way? Bet your Lawrence lovin' ass you'll see those shirts around. And the punk asses wearing them will be KU STUDENTS/FANS.
Your Truly,
The Obvious Captain Jack Hayseed
First of all, just because a company makes a shirt that is somewhat racist does not mean that everyone at KU is racist. This company is independent of KU and does not speak for the entire KU fan base. It is obsurd to think that this one shirt reflects KU fan opinion. Also, KU students and fans purchased clothing from Joe College before this incident took place. Saying that KU fans support racism because they shop there is not intelligent. Everyone makes mistakes. There are many announcers and commentators that make comments that are construed as racism all the time. So, if people are racist and ignorant for purchasing other clothing from Joe College are the people that still listen to the announcers and commentators racist as well.
Secondly, for all the posters that say KU fans are racist because of the shirt and then say "He's not Mexican, he's Cuban," that is not a good point to make. That statement makes you look racist because you are basically saying "Cubans don't do lawn work, that's a Mexican's job!" Many different ethnic groups do lawn work, not just Mexicans.
Attacking the KU fan base is a waste of time. If you actually want to do something, boycott Joe College, comment on the actual company, but why throw stones at a school and its fans for something it did not do?
"Geez, you hayseeds have a season and a half of decent basketball and you get all crazy. Go back to throwing dead chickens on the court."
Where have you been Bobo? When was the last time a chicken has been thrown on the floor? Hell, when was the last time you've been to the Octagon? Not in years that's for sure. And I dont' know what K-State circles you're around but no one I know is getting their panties in a bunch over this season yet. Oh, and if I remember correctly the last few years haven't been horrible.
"KU has absolutely nothing to do with this shirt, this shop, or this guy."
Where the hell do you live Bobo? How does this guy still make a living? Because assmonkey haters like yourself go to his store, buy his shirts, and wear them. If no one (aka KU students and fans) did then why the hell is he still in business? Before you start to rant get your mind right. You're just making yourself look stupid.
Yours truly,
Hayseed
I am a KU fan and this shirt is in no way a representation of KU fandom. What I'm most offended by is that the shirt is just flat out unfunny. So we have an unfunny AND racist shirt. Well done. Quite lame Joe College. I think it's fantastic that K-State basketball is finally off the ground and giving the state of Kansas a true in-state rivalry again.
I have a few t-shirt ideas for Kansas:
For Morningstar--"You Can't Drink and Drive the Lane"
For Collins-- "No Means No"
Also for Collins--"Looking Like A Fool With Your Pants on the Ground"
I don't get it. Frank Martin is Caucasian. If he were meso-American like the vast majority of Mexican and Central American Hispanics, then I could understand some of your concern.
Do people realize that Hispanic is not a race or ethnicity? Anyone, from any race or ethnicity, can be considered Hispanic if their country of origin is Spanish speaking.
Um, hey assmonkeys: KU has absolutely nothing to do with this shirt, this shop, or this guy.
If you think back just a little, KU sued the living shit out of this guy.
KU is jealous because Frank Martin is "the talk of college bball?"
Uh huh...and that #1 ranking is just a gimmie because KU paid all the refs and voters and blah, blah, blah.
Geez, you hayseeds have a season and a half of decent basketball and you get all crazy. Go back to throwing dead chickens on the court.
W-O-W.... For a city that touts itself on being "progressive and tolerant," this sure is racist! But, what would a dumb hick from an Ag school, 70 miles to the west, know about that? Hey, I guess you don't get the reputation for being a haven for wayward, pretentious, classless, Johnson Co. twenty-somethings for nothing! So, keep driving around in your V8 SUV and crying about republicans, you pseudo "hippies" and we'll keep making fun of you. (Without attacking your heritage, of course. We'll stick to the obvious.) The reason it hurts is because you do it to yourself... Keep on keepin' it classy, JoCo west. The only people who think your cool are yourselves.
Surprised that kind of "humor" will flt in the land of liberal commie-fag junkies! Stay classy k-who.
Simply because a store doesn't sell licensed gear doesn't mean that its products are not a reflection upon the university.
Ridiculous notion, Jayhawk84. The shirt is in KU blue, says "Kansas" on it, is sold in Lawrence (and Lawrence only) and is referring to one of KU's rivals, K-State. All this shirt does is reflect upon the university and specifically its basketball program.
To prove it further, who will buy it? Fans of KU basketball....no one else.
Since the store does not sell licensed KU gear, it is not a reflection on the university itself. Plus, it really isn't that clever or funny. What an individual does is his business...free speech yada yada. I agree with the poster above - I like the fact that there are 2 top 10 ranked teams in the state. I'm sick of hearing how NC is the the capital of b-ball. I'm also glad that KU is the one at #1!!
Hi everyone. We've taken away our son's computer priviliges. I apologize for my son's language, as well. I home school him the best that I can, but he's a sneaky little devil and gets on the computer when we aren't paying attention. Please be easy on him with your comments: he's a fragile boy. Thank you all!
Derek,
Please tell me you're a 10 year-old! Get off the internet and hit the books son. It doesn't take a William Allen White graduate to spot your obvious issues! Please leave the commentary to those who can type, spell, and use proper grammar.
before i read the actually meaning behind it I liked it.....cant be racist...just figured since he was really a nobody before this season thats were the mowing the lawn joke came from. guess not. pretty much crosses the line. why cant they have a shirt that says "Hey! K-state cant help that there a bunch of pussies!" atleast its not racist...
KU does not support this store, I love KU and this is not something I or the school would want to see on anyone. This shirt is stupid. Frank Martin is a good coach. We have 2 teams in the top 10. That is great! Go KU!
I think KU is just jealous because Frank Martin is the talk of college basketball right now and they can't stand sharing the limelight!
