George Allen, the former Virginia governor and senator, will headline a fundraiser to benefit the campaign of U.S. Senate hopeful Todd Tiahrt.

Allen lost a U.S. Senate race in 2006. During the campaign, he referred to a campaign volunteer of Indian descent as "macaca." The campaign volunteer, who was working for Allen's opponent, Democrat James Webb, was videotaping a rally. Speaking to an all-white audience, Allen welcomed S.R. Sidarth, the volunteer, to "the real world of Virgina."

Allen later apologized for the remark. He became a professional carbon-tax opponent after losing to Webb. The Tiahrt event takes place February 16 in Valley Center.
