The story behind Rent is the stuff of Broadway legend. The rock opera concerning seven New York City artist types living "La Vie Boheme" and therefore alternately starving, freezing and perpetually suffering through break-ups and the reality of AIDS is heartbreaking and beautiful enough even if you don't know the backstory of poverty-stricken playwright Jonathan Larson and his untimely death.
