Kansas City police sniper kills 18-year-old man holding his mother hostage at knife-point

A sniper with the Kansas City Police Department shot and killed an 18-year-old man who was holding his mother hostage at knife-point Thursday.

The 18-year-old man was a suspect in an armed carjacking last week, and when officers saw the man near 46th Street and Sterling Avenue yesterday, he ran into his mother's house in the 10900 block of East 51st Street, KMBC Channel 9 reports.

The two-hour standoff ended with the 18-year-old man coming out of the house with a knife to his mother's throat.

The man refused to drop the knife and a sniper fatally shot him, KMBC

reports.

After the man was mortally wounded, the man's mother

screamed, "You shot my son," The

Kansas City Star reports.

The woman was not injured.

Police have not released the man's name. The KCPD is investigating, and

the sniper has been placed on standard administrative leave.

I could have predicted this very outcome when I first read the headlines. So what if he was a good boy then the police should have left him alone right? Then if/when he killed someone else or his mother the community could have said "oh, you just didn't care because it was a black lady got killed".

I am no huge fan of the KCPD, but come on, there is no way to win with this.

Maybe someday the cops will get smart and quit going to these things. Maybe when they do it will be your life on the line.

You shot my son? He was holding a knife to your throat in front of the police. He was always such a good boy.

Also, my first reaction was to ask if he had an erection.
