The metro is hopping with entertaining and enlightening ways to spend your free time. Here, we offer some of our suggestions for the next four days. For more local events, see The Pitch calendar.

Today

Author Edmund White discusses his memories of New York City in the 1960s -- and the City Boy, the memoir that came out of those days -- at the Central Branch of the Kansas City Public Library at 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday
IHOP locations nationwide are offering a free stack of buttermilk pancakes, starting at 7 a.m., in celebration of National Pancake Day. Bonus: Miss Kansas Becki Ronen will be on hand at the Independence IHOP at 20100 East Valley View Circle.

Wednesday
WearHaus and Jeff Evrard Photography have teamed up to create Faction, a local fashion magazine without any ads. Pick up a copy during a launch party from 6-9 p.m. at Crosstown Station.

Thursday
The Kansas City Ballet presents its production of Lambarena at 7:30 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre.
