Raytown police say 29-year-old Shukriyyah "Shu" J. Simmons was the victim of Tuesday morning's homicide in the 7300 block of Ash in Raytown.
Simmons was gunned down in front of her three children -- an 8- and 9-year-old were getting on a school bus and a child said to be between 1 and 2-years-old was standing in the doorway of the home -- after a brief struggle in her driveway around 8:30 a.m.
Kansas City's Metropolitan Major Case Squad is working with Raytown
police on the investigation. No motive has been established for the killing, and police say this wasn't a robbery.
The only suspect information available so far is a black male wearing dark-colored clothing was seen running from the scene.
