No question the hysteria over the Waldo rapist is on high. Just read the comments on the "Lets Find This Prick" Facebook page, where there's no shortage of folks posting photos of guns and talk about chopping off the guy's penis.
Self-described community activist Alonzo Washington mocks people's fears, blames the media for over reporting the story (Fox 4 takes the biggest hit) and plays the race card with a YouTube "PSA" that also explicitly says the Kansas City police are ignoring East Side crime.

The only good coming out of Washington's video is him telling folks not to be like the doucher who played vigilante and chased a black guy from Waldo to KCK. Mostly, though, the video's just more of Washington's trademark bitterness. To quote local blogger Kansas Sity Sinic, "epic fail."

Alonzo washington has every right to be angry! This case was turned into a race issue. It's truely sad and frustrating at the same time! This is racial profiling at it's best (or worst)! Utterly sickening!!! OH btw....The sketch looks nothing like the suspect in custody (Bernard Jackson).

The vast majority of interracial stranger rape (and that's what most people of all races fear most) is overwhelmingly black-on-white. When's the last time you've seen a news story about a white serial rapist praying on black women? And when we do hear of cases of white-on-black rape, it ends up being a hoax.
Black males between the ages of 15 and 40 commit almost have the violent crimes in the country. If you live in an area with a large black population, depending on the context, it is perfectly reasonable to fearful.

Your statistics are misleading at best. According to the DOJ and MOCSA, 80-90 percent of all rapes are committed by someone of the same race as the victim, so again, why is everyone trying to hide their racist tendencies under this random serial rapist?

It is more harmful to the victims of any rape to throw out incorrect statistics.
This video, a peurile, pedestrain, pathetic attempt at sarcasm is a prima facia comment on the lopsided view that our PC 4th Estate stands on when it comes to race.
Had a local well know white person made the exact same video, sarcastically poking fun at people of color living in fear of a white rapist, there would be a interuptions of programming up to and including The Home Shoping Network, to castigate, lacerate and flagellate the white perpetrator, and by inference and implication, the whole white race.

565 Black men rape white women for every 1 white man that rapes a black woman.
That would include Tawana Brawley and kids that go to Duke.
If your IQ is somewhere above room temperature, you might be able to draw some straight line correlations between fear of black males and crime.

Eve, Yes I am aware of the gangs in KC and what creates them. Again urban KC is lacking good black role models that are actively working to improve the community, I will stand by that until I see otherwise. I know of good programs that are helping to improve the urban core, and are lacking black men volunteers to be good role models. Yes I also have known gang members with kids. There is great potential in so many kids, who learn basic morals by day, only to be taught to live a different way by night. That doesn't make it wrong or right, but is it working?
I think it's important for everyone to remember their are bad apples in every race. I would also challenge people in the black community to look at this with an open mind, and ask yourself if the suspect was a white perve in your neighborhood and on your street getting away with 5 rapes and counting, what would your reaction be? Would another innocent victim be killed in a drive by? Would several bad reports of white suspects be reported to police?

I think whites in Waldo have learned from a lot about profiling, and being more accurate with reviewing someone as a possible suspect, especially of a different race. Though many still may suck at matching a black suspect with a sketch photo, I think on the whole most people know to be more careful before picking up the phone in a panic, and sure as sh!# not to chase people across town like an idiot. The community here is scared and mad. It took 5 rapes before I actually saw a steady increase of police patrol and an official response from them saying they did increase patrol. Though I have my doubts that will last and still haven't single cop drive down my street.
All these issues run deeper than I could word here. I'm just saying people need to open their fricken minds, which typically closes once the race card is pulled. Most of us here in Waldo live here because we want to be a part of the city and support change in KCMO, we are not the ones running the JOCO southern sprawl out of fear. We are also not the recent whiners in prairie village, Ks expressing their deep concerns the rapist may start violating those on the KS side, give me a break.

I am a white woman; I work with a group of 20 or so teens who are all AA off Woodland. They are the sweetest people you could ever meet. None of them would dare say the things you said in your post about white people. You have zero logic backing your comments about the black community and I am embarrassed for you that you even made them. It is quite dubious that a victim of his would come on here and talk in such a trifling manner about the situation and about their hatred for black people during such a difficult time emotionally.
Skyler- As I said above, I work with the urban community. They have plenty of wonderful role models. Several of the teens that I work with are exceptional people. And of those several, many are gang members. I am curious if you have ever talked to someone in a gang. Either way, I encourage you to do so. To understand their lives and why so many choose a life of gangs is to better assist the fight against gang violence.
To everyone else who is living in fear, consider the cultivation theory. In reality your chances of being a victim of a violent crime are 1 in 10,000. Keep yourself safe, but don't be ridiculous and vigilante about the situation. If anything, you are putting yourself in more danger by hunting the Waldo rapist down. As a community we should be ashamed of politicians' statements that imply everyone should be sleeping in fear. We should be ashamed of ourselves for being so ignorant to our community members.

Kind of hard to focus on East side crime, when a big shoot out happens in front of 300 people, and nobody saw anything. If the ghetto hates the system so much, why even call 911? The urban community needs people to step up and be good role models. Once scar face is no longer the all time best rated movie in urban areas, their might be a chance for people to grow above the thug life mentality, which only gets people a membership to jail, or death.

Honestly, the media didn't truly expose the rapist story until the 4th and 5th were raped....hence the fundraiser they had on Feb 6th at Kennedy's.

I'll agree that much of the video is in poor taste, but he's not wrong to point out that the media in this town seems a whole lot more interested in crime on the West Side than crime on the East Side.
