Walt Bodine fans better enjoy their daily fix while they can. Starting next month, Bodine is cutting his schedule back to hosting only on Fridays (movie and food critic day).
KCUR-FM program director Bill Anderson announced the change on the station's Web site yesterday.
Walt embraces this change and KCUR is onboard, too.Walt's earned a respite from the daily grind of churning out a live
daily call-in show but we are delighted he is going to be making
contributions on our most listened to program, Morning Edition.
I'm not even close to a daily listener, but there was
always a comfortable feeling that Bodine would be on the air when I
wanted to tune in.
Anderson offers a Bodine quote that shows not
only the old guy's wit but also what's in the back of everyone's mind
when they think of the 89-year-old local legend.
Waltlikes to tease us when we sing his praises, "I'm not dead yet. Don't
bury me." I always keep that in mind when I start to talk about his
importance to me and KCUR, so let me stop here.
The Star's Aaron Barnhart has more on the move, including details of Gina Kaufmann's "bittersweet" departure from co-hosting the Bodine Show.
