Platte County authorities believe they've found the person who killed Hassan A. Abbas inside a Riverside apartment complex earlier this week.
Prosecutors allege that 19-year-old Cavona C. Flenoy shot Abbas
multiple times in the chest, face and side with a gun that she'd bought
for $100 a few days before. She then took Abbas' car, wallet and cell
phone. She even switched out his license plates and tried to buy gas
with his credit card.
Abbas' roommate found him lying in a pool of blood in their apartment at the El
Chaparral apartment complex
at 4911 Northwest Gateway Drive Tuesday night. Abbas, a
32-year-old Sudanese national, had been shot multiple times and his
1995 blue Honda Accord was missing. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Police found spent .40 caliber shell casings and bullet
rounds in Abbas' bedroom, where the bed, walls and floor were covered with blood.
Abbas' roommate told police that Abbas had met Fleony recently and brought her to their apartment the weekend before.
Flenoy is charged with second-degree murder, armed criminal
action, stealing a motor vehicle and stealing a credit card.
She is being held in the Platte County jail on $250,000 cash bond.
If she's convicted, she could be looking at life in prison.
