Shocking news. The cops nailed 44 people for suspicion of drunken driving at 39th Street and Southwest Trafficway yesterday.
I get celebrating, but drinking and driving on St. Paddy's Day is just tempting fate. The streets were dangerous all day yesterday. I can count at least four near misses with cars pulling out in front of oncoming traffic yesterday. And I wasn't tempting fate.
It's not like the DUI checkpoint was a surprise. And you could about guess where the checkpoint would be set up (I would have thought maybe 39th and Main). But if you got busted, then you got what you deserved.
