Major C. Edwards Jr. pleaded guilty today to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Lawrence rapper Anthony Vital.

The 30-year-old Edwards had been charged

with first-degree murder in Vital's death, a case profiled in a June 2007 edition of The Pitch ("It's

Hard Out Here for a Player").

Vital was known as "Clacc," and he was a member of Da BombSquad. His

bullet riddled body

was found in a field west of Lawrence on October 2006.

The Star

reports that Edwards' sentencing is scheduled for April 20

(he's expected to get 18 years).

The trial of Durell A. Jones,

who is

charged with first-degree murder in the death of Vital, is scheduled for

May 17.
