Those demanding video proof of Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II getting spit on by tea party protesters now have it. This video showed up today on the 24th State to debunk Cleaver's spit story.
Actually, the video seems to back up Cleaver (watch starting at the 1:25 mark). Cleaver clearly reacts as if he's getting hit and then wipes his face as he continues up the stairs.

I think Emanuel Cleaver should take up acting. Watch his path... He clearly walks right into the man! And the fella had taken a step back also! If Obama deserves the Nobel Prize, Cleaver deserves the Tony, Oscar or whatever. I don't watch those shows...

Emanuel is one of 83 members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus though.. I suggest you check it out!
Why vote one of your choices? You should offer a choice of "Cleaver made the trek with the intent of accusing a Tea Party Protester of spitting on him" and "using the N-word" because that's the truth. His office put out a press release the next morning perpetuating the lie and now he denies saying or reporting anything.

Cleaver went back looking for alleged man who "spit upon him" and he was right there and Cleaver could not find him standing right where he was when Cleaver walked by.
Cleaver could not remember him because it did not happen.

That looked no uglier than any number of the anti-war rallies I witnessed in 2003, with rampaging crowds wearing masks, smashing windows, holding up signs comparing Bush to Hilter, wearing devil horns, accusing him of genocide, mass murdering children etc. Now suddenly crowds chanting "kill the bill" are shocking?
What's happening now is that the mainstream media is flexing its ideological muscle to smear people it knows very little about other than that they are white, and they are opposed to healthcare reform.
Regardless... that looked ugly. Cleaver had plenty of room to walk clear of the crowd on both sides. Cleaver and gang were clearly baiting the crowd.
Cleaver, get a clue, the majority of the American people do not want this law.
That is hard to tell whether he spat on him or not, but he was yelling loud enough to have sprayed it and not said it for sure. Regardless of that it doesn't look like there was adequate crowd control. There really should have been some better barriers set up or something like that, I mean you got a guy waving a flag right in his face, and people in the walkways. Nothing close to spitting could have happened with a little better security.
I've known Cleaver for nearly 30 years - I've worked with him. He's a politician and an "actor". Always has been.
Cleaver is obviously in acting mode. He walks several steps, stands at the top of the stairs where more people can see him, then very dramatically wipes his face. OK, I didn't say he was a GOOD actor.
This "story" has been waaaay over-inflated.

Why don't you do a little economic study on the impact of the bills that have passed and are currently under consideration. You Libs like to claim you are smarter than the average bear, so why not use your brain and read the constitution, notes and letters from the founding fathers, and study some economics and see what is going to happen if this is allowed to continue.

As for the delayed reaction, it probably took him a few steps to realize the wet was gooey, and realize what it was.
It might have been 'accidental'. It looks like most of the protesters were foaming at the mouths.
P.S. This video will either get massive airplay on MSNBC or not. If it doesn't, I think you'll have your answer as to just what the professional left thinks this video proves.
It should also be pointed out that the guy was shouting at the other black congressmen and staff as they passed by in the same manner as when Cleaver passed. None of them started weeping, "Arrest this man! He spit on me!" So what's the alleged spitter's thinking here? "I'll let the others pass by and I'll wait to spit on this particular guy right in front of a cop who'll be close enough to get some of my spit on her! Yeah, that makes sense. Come on, lefties. Time for some honesty here.
The guy didn't spit on him in the sense that Cleaver and the media have been knowingly reporting. Cleaver's a drama queen. On the other hand, you shouldn't be yelling in people's faces either. It's rude, whether it's done by Left-wing protesters or right wingers. In any case, the media reporting of all of these protester stories is clearly intended to formulate something of smear job.
1. Cleaver is a liar.
2. You should never yell the word "Kill" at any politician no matter what the situation.
3. Spitters or no. The tea baggers do appeal best to rednecks, racists and fundamental Christians. Let's remember that these are the same types of people that bombed abortion clinics in the 90's.
So the whole situation from all sides is pretty suspect in my eyes.
I have known Cleaver for 30 years and have always found him to be an honorable and trustworthy man. If he says he was spit on, he was spit on.
Next time, they should turn their backs, or better yet, bow and scrape to their betters. Peasants should be careful not to emit any saliva or possibly offensive sounds. If one of them accidentally farts in the Congressman's general direction, well, that's not yet against the law . . .
Cleaver was spat on. The Capitol Hill police officer needs to be suspended or fired for her neglect of duties. That was an assault that took place in her presence. If she says she didn't see it, clearly she was negligent in doing her job because offenses of this nature is what she is hired to enforce. Fortunately, the old fart that spit on him didn't have a gun.
Looks like spraying and then Cleaver over reacting. If he got spit on then why doesn't he wipe his face until several steps later almost as an afterthought? Instinct would make you wipe right away.
Also...is there any video in which the "n" word can be heard? If it was shouted then there HAS to be video of it. They were fishing for racism but were forced to fabricate when no "racists" in the crowd Bit.
This was clearly a man yeling and spraying at Cleaver. The man did not spit,stop creating havoc where there clearly is not.
You didn't really think the Teabaggers were going to admit to it, did you? If they're famous for nothing else, they're undoubtedly the biggest pack of liars and con artists who ever drew breath, and that's saying something considering all the competition they have for the position.
