The Rs and Ds in the Missouri Legislature weren't playing nice today.
Prime Buzz reports that a couple of Missouri lawmakers had to be restrained today during a budget debate.
Lawmakers reportedly had to hold by Rep. Jeff Roorda, a Barnhart Democrat, and Rep. Tim Jones, a Eureka Republican. Roorda was speaking before the House, raising his voice (Fired Up! Missouri has 12 minutes of audio) when Jones reportedly started yelling, "You're a liar!," pointing (see the photo on the right) and trying to get to Roorda. Lawmakers separated the men.
After the jump, another photo (and check out KRCG TV 13 for video).
There were apologies from both. Roorda explained that Jones had called him out for missing a vote to attend a friend's funeral. Jones offered an apology on Twitter, but not to Roorda.
"I apologize for losing my cool. I do not apologize for calling Rep. Roorda on the carpet for his constant name calling and partisan baiting," Jones tweeted.
Update: Jones posted a Twitter update saying he and Roorda have made up.
For the record: Rep Roorda and I privately met and personally exchanged apologies. We agreed: budget battles are difficult and emotional
