| Roman LeBlanc isn't mentoring any more young girls |
Even though prosecutors in Platte County decided there was not enough
evidence to file charges against LeBlanc, who has maintained his
innocence, reps with the Boy Scouts say the Missouri politician has been
permanently removed from any association with the program.
"He is not associated with the Boy Scouts of America at all," says Mark Brayer, director of support services with the Kansas City office of the Boy Scouts. "When we suspend somebody, it's permanent. For a person to get back in, they'd have to go through an appeal process with the national council. It's very, very rare that once we remove a person they're allowed back in. I have no indication whatsoever he's filed an appeal."
Brayer says the Boy Scouts provided police with contact information for other girls LeBlanc mentored as part of its program. Besides the girl who told police LeBlanc assaulted her, no other woman has claimed to have had a sexual relationship with LeBlanc or to have been harassed or assaulted by him.
Brayer adds that the Boy Scouts never had cause to question LeBlanc's mentor relationships.
"All the background information we go through, all those things seemed in line and appropriate. We had no indication anything could happen," he says.
