A Cricket Wireless clerk Khamis A. Saed was found shot to death in the backroom of a store at 5116 Bristol on August 15, 2009.
Now police believe they've found the man who killed Saed. Corey L. Walton, 29, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action.
Saed, 23, died from a gunshot wound to the chest.
A fingerprint found on the store's cash register led police to Walton.
Police caught up with Walton on August 21, and he confessed to taking
part in killing Saed. Walton claimed that he and another man cased the
Cricket store to see how many people were inside.
Walton left
and returned with an unnamed accomplice, who supposedly shot Saed when
he reached for his waistband. Walton told police that Saed ran to the
back of the store, and his accomplice ordered him to take the cash
register. Walton said was going to take the register, but a customer
came into the store, foiling his plan.
Walton also confessed
to robbing several businesses on August 15, including a Cricket
Wireless store at 6416 East Truman Road and a Naughty But Nice porn
shop at 8910 East 40 Highway.
A witness told police that
he/she drove Walton and an accomplice to the three stores, but didn't
know anything about the robberies.
