The man who raped and killed Emily Sander, a porn model known as Zoey Zane, will spend the rest of his life in prison without a chance of parole.

Israel Mireles was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the capital murder charge plus 203 months for raping her.

In February, a Butler County jury convicted Mireles of capital murder. Sander's November 2007 slaying made national headlines, and The Pitch's Alan Scherstuhl wrote a moving piece about Sander's death.

Kansas Attorney General Steve Six released a statement saying, "This is one of the most cruel and heinous cases my office has seen in

some time. Our prayers are with Emily Sander's family as

they continue to grieve."

Authorities say Sander was stabbed and strangled at the El Dorado Motel

in November 2007. Her body was discovered in a ditch off U.S. 54 about

53 miles outside of El Dorado.

The Wichita Eagle reports that several family members spoke at today's hearing, including Sander's father, Russ Sander.

"It was savage." he said. "It was horrific... Hopefully this man will never see daylight again."

This is a really good post and something I never thought about, but I do recall a few eatery charges on my credit card that seemed to be much higher than I recalled spending. Well I think I will make an effort to bring enuf cash for tipping from now on if possible!
