Prairie Village police shoot and kill woman at Kenilworth Apartments

A 47-year-old woman was shot and killed by Prairie Village police during a standoff at the Kenilworth Apartments at 93rd Terrace and Mission Road Wednesday morning.

KMBC Channel 9 has a pretty extensive report, noting that the woman had made "suicidal and threatening comments to police." The incident started out as a "welfare check" and ended around 9:45 a.m. with the woman being shot by officers after allegedly brandishing a weapon.

The woman's name hasn't been released.
