During his campaign to stop the deer hunt in Shawnee Mission Park, Jason Miller bought the head of a dead doe and delivered the bloody, melting flesh to Johnson County officials.
In recent weeks, the animal rights activist has stepped up his attack on the University of Kansas Medical Center and its use of primates in clinical research.
Last week, after passing out "Wanted" fliers targeting two KU researchers, Miller was reprimanded by security guards and given an ultimatum by the facility's vice chancellor: If you set foot on our property again, you'll be arrested.
So, instead of pulling his latest stunt in person, Miller paid FedEx to deliver the decapitated head of a pig he's calling "Wilbur" to Barbara Atkinson, executive vice chancellor of KU Med.
Pissed off at the correspondence from KU Med and its ban on his presence, Miller made an announcement earlier in the week that's been circulating on the Internet.
"Jason Miller, an Animal Rights and social justice activist of modest means, is offering a reward of $35,000.00 to any group or individual who facilitates freedom (i.e. life in a primate sanctuary) for the primates enslaved by the University of Kansas Medical Center OR to any group or individual who orchestrates or causes the complete and permanent cessation of primate vivisection at the University of Kansas Medical Center. DISCLAIMER: Jason Miller is not endorsing, condoning, promoting, or encouraging the commission of illegal or violent acts to achieve the goals necessary to earn this reward."
Miller says, if someone does "liberate" the monkeys, he'll have to sell all his possessions and cash in his 401k retirement fund.
He's not sitting back in the meantime. Some time today, Atkinson should be receiving the head of a dead pig. Miller says he purchased "Wilbur" from a local meat processor. Enclosed with the corpse is a letter, referencing Atkinson's recent appointment by President Obama to a national bioethics commission.
Barbara --The medical center isn't responding to Miller's antics anymore. Stephanie Sharp, a spokeswoman for KU Med, says they have no comment on his activities.Wilbur, whose head you are about to view, thinks that your "bioethics" are pathetic and that your appointment to Obama's bioethics panel is a perverse joke. Wilbur died at the hands of moral primitives, like YOU! He suffered the speciesist savagery that you inflict upon the primates at KUMC. It's never too late to do the right thing, Barbara. Stop vivisection at KUMC now!
With every best wish,
Jason Miller

And Jason: Thanks for your support of medical research. How have you supported it? By making your absurd tactics and backwards logic so public, you have discredited not only yourself, but animal rights advocates everywhere. Those familiar with the above absurdity, when confronted even with valid concerns, are most likely to chuckle and say "another ill-informed nut it as it again," and promptly ignore anything that the activist or organization has to say, even if it is legitimate.
If you truly take issue with animal research, I have a solution for you: Boycott it. Never seek any kind of medical treatment again, even to save your own life. The plain and simple truth is that every procedure, every pharmaceutical or other kind of medical intervention was developed using animal research. As an animal researcher, I don't like that I have to sacrifice animals for my research, and neither does anyone else around
me. We truly do go to great lengths to minimize the suffering of these animals and use as few of them as possible. But the fact that my work may someday save lives makes what I do worthwhile. The fact is that no other alternative, be it cell culture (yes even human cells), bioinformatics or any other solution is indicative of what happens in a whole organism. Any current medical intervention of any kind has been developed using animal research, and it's likely that no effective alternative will be developed. So, if you truly want to stop it, start with your own healthcare. I truly doubt that if you were afflicted by severe pain or a life threatening condition, you would fail to seek medical attention. And if you or someone you care about were to be suffering from what is currently considered to be a terminal illness, I doubt very much that you would not support progress towards its cure.
If you truly take issue wirh animal research, I have a suggestion: Boycott it. How? Never seek medical attention again. Never should you take any drug, prescription or otherwise. Why? Any medical procedure, any drug, has been developed by animal research. It's not a pretty fact, but new medications and procedures MUST be tested in a whole organism to ensure safety and efficacy. Cell culture, bioinformatics and any other current alternative simply are not the same. How isolated cells (yes even human cells) respond to experimental treatment just isn't the same. I'm an animal researcher. Do I like that I have to do these things? No. But the fact that what I'm doing may someday save lives makes it worthwhile. Plain and simple, no medical treatment has been developed without animal research, and it's likely that it never will be. So, if you really have a problem, don't seek any pharmaceutical or other medical intervention, whether it's to ameliorate suffering or even to save your life. And don't support progress to cure the diseases that are currently incurable.
If you have diabetes... suck it!

Jason Miller... you are a hypocrite. It's your purchase of the pig head that partially drives the demand for the slaughter of a pig, just as is the purchase of bacon or ham. Get over yourself.
Great Information, thanks for the useful Article. Really great topic to write about on my Website. I probably make a bookmark from another site. Medical Cosmetics
Undoubtedly, one of the best post l have come across on this noteworthy subject. I quite agree with your assumptions and will thirstily look forward to your next updates.
The real hypocrisy is YOU iditiots that say you love YOUR dog and cat and would do anything for them, then turn a BLIND eye on other dogs, pigs and other animals, capable of the same feelings~~you are the ULTIMATE hyprocrates!!
KEEP doing what you do JASON~~!!
Good for you Jason! Morons who think that animal testing provides accurate means for use of products/meds on humans is sooo far off. So YES...we SHOULD test of humans! Esp humans on death row!
Jason, unfortunately you seem almost as misguided as those you intend to inform. Paying money for a pig's head? You made a sentient animal's death more profitable for the butcher. You literally put a price on its head. Sending a pig's head in the mail isn't a tool of persuasion or advocacy, it is a tool of publicity.
Further more, and to all the other commentators; yes, animals are mistreated in vivisection. Animals are also mistreated in food production and in leather production, and in numerous other industries. Key point being nonhuman animals are mistreated all over the world in all sorts of instances. Why spend time and energy focusing on animal TREATMENT in one instance?
The real problem is animal USE. As long as humans see and treat animals as property, well... they're going to be treated according. Until that basic right is recognized, nonhuman animals will continue to be mistreated in all industries and all continents.
For more information on why veganism is the moral baseline for animal rights, why single issue campaigns are ineffective (Jason, that's what you're doing right now) and why animal use is ethically indefensible check out this site:

To Jason Bailey-
Actually, jason, I do think testing should be done on humans, considering it is for our benefit.
I myself would have no problem with the tests being preformed on me. At least I have a voice and can speak up....animals do not speak human words, but their pain is every bit as human as ours!
And further more, in this advanced age of science, animal testing is totally unneccessary.....cells can be made today that are equivilent to human cells.
The day will come when these caged animals rise up and the acts bestowed upon them will be endured by those who currently hold the key!
They disgust me too Judith, beyond words. Jason is the ONLY relentless passionate animal rights activist we know, even when people are hurling insults at him. What are THEY doing? FUCKING NOTHING....but being bitches.
I can't believe that you people just don't get it! Why are you so blind and thrilled to enjoy cruelty?! Are you listening to yourselves?! How sad, how very, very sad. I truly do pity you..You disgust me beyond words..Jason, don't ever lose your passion.....

Chairman Meow, I was born, just not yesterday. Who do you think you're kidding here? YOU HATE animals and I know who you are. @Daniel: I'd like to shoot you in the foot! You are a pathetic example of someone who stands up for the animals!
ChairmanMeow
Why do you insist on putting down a member of the animal rights movement who is actually DOING ACTION on behalf of the still exploited animals? I have word that you are one of us, although you throw such hateful, insensitive rhetoric. This only divides the movementall the while, the animals in labs, on factory farms, trapped in the fur trade they continue to suffer! Many of us could choose to turn your direction with derogatory remarks about your seemingly lack of street activism especially, speaking for my own public activism, I have not seen you at any of our educational, thought-provoking demonstrations.
Hi Chairman Meow, I know who you are....little pussy, oh, I mean kitty...hehehe..wanna play..ooo kayyyy fasten your seat belt.
here kitty kitty kitty...my mommy Judy has a bowl of milk for you.
got your selt belt fastened?
this ridiculous anonymous response is so cowardly. post your real name shit face! and chairmanMeow! get a life! you are definitely not as cool as the kitty cat!!!
Why does the Pitch still give this fucktard attention? He hasn't been at it that long and he's going with the same old stunts. If he's going do something outrageous, he should at least do something original. Recycling tricks within 6 months? Come on, The Pitch, this guy is an ass clown.
The saddest point of all this is that testing on animals prevents us "superior" humans from ever obtaining any valid science. Animal testing is archaic - So primitive and faulty in it's results that 95% of academia has stopped using animals as models. We are dooming ourselves by relying on ancient "voodoo", as well as harming innocent life along the way. Wake up! Not only is it not necessary AND unethical - But it's also just bad "medicine".
Thank you Jason for getting out there and spreading the word that we mean business..The people need to hear and see this horror upon the innocent and voiceless head on. Come on people, please join us, the animals need you so badly. You might laugh at what Jason is doing but to us, he is a hero and a man not afraid to take chances when it come to the greater good. Join us and hear what we have to say and then you can make up your own minds, but think about how much horror and pain the animals go through everyday. Its not right. We were put on this earth to be good guardians for the animals..
So when you look at Jason, know that he is a wonderful strong man, and that he will always protect the innocent and voiceless....Please join us.....
Jenn
You ASS....ume all these things about me, IDIOT....your own self.
What I notice with a lot of you sheeple Miller worshippers is how you don't state the things YOU do and you question others about what THEY do. I didn't know it was a brag fest, a confessional or a competition.
Why are you sitting around fucking with me instead of fucking with a vivisector?
ChairmanMeow:
How do you know that the emails go unread?
Let the personal recipient of those emails worry about that!
Guess the people that are so frightened have been shaken up to the point that they are now second guessing what they are doing! You are the one focused on Jason, since you are the one that keeps mentioning his name in your post!
Dropping animal heads does bring the message to light! Stop focusing on telling us how to march in this movement! Start focusing on the message itself. STOP TORTURING ANIMALS!
And as far as you go to say that you dont like animals being harmed? Why are you not helping this cause then? Do you think you harm animals when they are slaughtered for your breakfast, lunch and dinner? Death is not painless, neither is VIVISECTION IDIOT!
@ChairmanMeow
I will be the one that is dumping aborted baby fetus on my head to prove a point against abortion. I wouldn't doubt Jason Miller being the next Roeder.
Jason Miller Rocks !I can't believe the people who do nothing are the first to complain about the way someone else does something and the laughable comments by people like Jason Bailey are so pathetic you have to laugh .They are so unaware about the truth that goes on in the vivisection labs etc i 'am sure glad i don't know people like you in this life. You talk like there are only two choices test on people or animals .Educate yourself about the real world before you start finding fault in what a real man does to help make the world a better place .You say grow up ? I say get educated !
I don't like animals to be harmed, but I certainly don't like the way Miller goes about things with the nasty letters he sends that go unread by the recipients, he feeds the capitalist animal killing machine he hates so much by purchasing animal parts and animal blood, he goes on private property then falsely cries his rights were violated, he has frightened at least two people enough that they have filed orders of protection against him and the stuff he writes is 98% all about him......his rights, his firsts, his this and that. What good does it do for animals to send a pig head to someone or drop a deer head on a counter? It doesn't bring the issue of animal torture to light, it brings to light the issue of Miller and only Miller.......just the way he likes it.
Has he freed one single animal, other than the welfarist move of "rescuing" his dog?
I'll be the one with my middle fingers flying at both sides over at the horse fountain.
I bet $20 cash NO one that supports this SICK testing comes out on Sat.
If they do I'll pay 'em $20 cash!
Damn rednecks all they do is talk...
Awesome! You are incredibly stupid! Would you call Martin Luther King stupid! This is just another social movement and Jason is OUR MLK! Do something with your life. Take a trip to Horse Fountain Saturday and voice your opinion! Or are you more comfortable behind your seat on your ass doing nothing in life but balking at social movements? Have you ever done anything worthwhile for anyone but yourself in your life?
Speciesist!
In 1990 NASA researchers ended decades or radiation experiments on monkeys after concluding that monkey data DID NOT TRANSLATE to humans. This applies to ALL animal research. A good friend of mine, a Ph.D neurologist, used to work in a lab that did animal experiments. One day she asked her boss if it didn't bother him to see how the animals suffer as a result of the "research." His answer was no because THEY ARE NOT LIKE US. Exactly. Their physicological differences make the studies DANGEROUS for humans. The number of human deaths from drugs that have been deemed safe based on animal-based research causes HUNDREDS of deaths annually. Daniel, though I do not know you you sound like the typical arm chair activist who critiques others but doesn't actually do anything himself. A great activist, such as Jason Miller, knows that ALL strategies are necessary. And as you see his delivering the pig to the vivisector has shined a bright light on this issue that has been shrouded in secrecy from it's inception. Like all the other barbaric and unspoken cruelties that go on it is MONEY driven. Period. The first step to ending anything is exposure. Jason got YOUR attention, did he not. Same for all the other ignoramuses that posted here. Jason Miller is a true hero. He is brilliant and courageous.
The passion is great on both sides. I unfortunately don't care whether vivisection happens or not on monkeys or rats or otherwise, sorry. Regardless of your moral cause, Jason Miller is pushing buttons that he is going to regret he pushed. I anticipate that he will be in FBI custody, again, in the coming weeks.
$35,000 is a drop in the bucket to KUMC and won't influence anything except criminal charges against someone dumber than Jason Miller that will attempt something dumb; Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back is coming to mind. Would Jason be Jay or Silent Bob. CLIT COMMANDERS TO THE RESCUE!! haha
