Update (12 p.m. April 22): The Lawrence Journal-World reports that David Freeman, the Lawrence developer sentenced today to 18 months in prison for a bribery case, answered questions by authorities leading to the investigation of the University of Kansas' athletic ticket office. The LJW quotes Carl Cornwell, Freeman's attorney, who says Freeman got "screwed" in the sentencing.

Another high ranking official is out at the University of Kansas.
Rodney
Jones, who had been on administrative leave of absence since early March, has resigned as assistant athletic director in charge of the Williams
Educational Fund -- the place where Jayhawk donors give money to get the
best possible season tickets -- according to a statement on KU Athletics' Web site.
Jones handing in his resignation follows the exit of associate athletic
director Ben
Kirtland earlier this month. This all comes as the feds investigate whether
NCAA Tournament tickets and maybe Kansas men's basketball season ticket packages were illegally taken from the
university and sold through outside ticket brokers (the university has also hired an outside firm to conduct an internal review).
The Topeka
Capital-Journal reports that although Kansas athletic director Lew
Perkins has yet to address the federal probe, he admitted during a
speech at the Dole Institute of Politics that KU's audits had missed
wrongdoing within
the athletic department. "If you have people who are dishonest, they
find a way to beat the
system," Perkins said.
Also yesterday, the university also announced
that Angie Storey, KU's compliance coordinator since 2006, was
taking as interim associate director of the Williams Educational Fund.
