  • Officer Big Mac busted a couple of suspected kidnappers.

A woman kidnapped from her Kansas City apartment locked herself in Fairview Heights, Illinois, McDonald's bathroom and escaped her captors Tuesday night.

It's a good thing her captors were apparently the worst kidnappers ever.

Here's the story: The woman, described as a non-English speaking twentysomething, was talking to her sister on the phone Tuesday afternoon when two men broke into her apartment at 3701 Baltimore and the phone line went dead.

The woman's sister went to the apartment and found the door busted open,

and her sister nowhere to be found. A witness told police that he saw

two Hispanic men force a woman into a brown van and drive off.

Several hours later, the victim called her sister, told her she had been

kidnapped and said she had locked herself in a McDonald's bathroom.

So you kidnap someone, don't take away their cell phone and let them go

into a public bathroom by herself?

The restaurant's manager ended up unlocking the bathroom door, finding

the victim and calling police. Two suspects were arrested at the

McDonald's. Their names have not been released and charges have yet to

be filed.

In the 21st century, some men still consider women property. I'm so pleased the woman escaped, but the incident will impact her for the rest of her life. My thoughts are with her.
