Mayor Mark Funkhouser's sparsely attended carnival/town hall meeting at Sprint Center (slideshow)

Mayor Mark Funkhouser's town hall meeting at the Sprint Center last night was bizarre, sad and sparsely attended. The 18,000 seat arena looked cavernous with maybe 300 people attending (and that might be generous). Many of the attendees were students and school officials there to collect awards. Take a look at the town hall, which on the outside looked more like a carnival than a rally behind Funkhouser's Schools First initiative, which received

a chilly reception in committee last week. But we did get free popcorn and water (thanks, taxpayers!) as Funkhouser told us about the urban core's population bleed. For all of the promises of a fun-filled night, the town hall was just sad (click the photo for a slideshow).

;_;

Mark Funkhouser reminds me of the kid who invited everybody in their class to their birthday party and only 2 kids showed up, and those 2 kids were forced to go by their parents.
