The family of a fallen marine that's suing Topeka's gay hating Westboro Baptist Church has found an ally in Kansas Attorney General Steve Six.
Next month, Six will file an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court supporting Albert Snyder, who sued Fred Phelps and his church for picketing the 2006 funeral of his son, Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew
Snyder, and won a $5 million judgment (the Phelpses won an appeal). In the brief, Six will argue that laws against "funeral picketing" are constitutional.
"Funeral goers are a captive audience and they are engaged in a deeply
personal and private mourning process," Six said in a statement.
"The Constitution does not give
the Phelpses the right to hijack solemn proceedings such as funerals in
order to spread their hateful ideas."
Six is asking other attorneys general to join him, and it might not be
hard to find allies. More than 40 states have signed laws against
funeral picketing and protests.
In March, the U.S. Supreme Court agreed
to hear the case and determine whether picketing dead soldiers'
funerals is a protected under the First Amendment.
On a lighter
note, Westboro's latest California picket was met with absurd street
theater and memes (photos

I had a blog on this subject, but it got spammed so bad I had to close it. You appear to be better at weeding out the spam! Well done!
Greetings I i saw your web site while searching for something else and seriously enjoy your site.
Approximately 6 million people inhabit the globe, seventy five percent have heard of jesus. One dude preaching in one country, set up this, with just word of mouth. You have the internet with which to reach all of those people, all this at your fingertips, you can change anything, go for it bad boys!!!!!!
We had a silly hurtful gathering on the Plaza that was organized spontaniously via twitter, facbook etc...
What if we had the same kind of network, and it was nationwide, and it was devoted to getting a spontanious crowd together wherever and whenever the phelps clan stick their noses out the door and attempt to picket or spew their idiocy.
A call to free speech of sorts. Just sing this song over and over again so no one can hear the phelps brood. I like the image.
Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
